GENERAL FUNCTION Oversees and maintain the organization' s Unemployment Compensation Programs, provides HR systems, operations, and communications support for ongoing projects and initiatives. Proactively build partnerships with HR, Communications, Operations, and Field/Store Management partners throughout the organization
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Respond to unemployment claims, determinations, and hearings notices to TALX UC eXpress (unemployment vendor).
Collaborate with Associate Relations, field management, and internal witnesses to obtain detailed information regarding separations from employment.
Analyze facts and details in association with unemployment claims and hearings; Coordinate all efforts to recruit hearing representatives for the Client, connecting the Administrative Law Judge, and prepare and train Field Managers to attend Unemployment Compensation Hearings.
Attend Unemployment Compensation Hearings.
Analyze payroll records to respond to unemployment wage audits and employment verifications.
Drive initiatives to reduce Unemployment Insurance liabilities.
Assist with the creation and distribution of written communications to brand/busines unit HR and Operations partners .
Proactively support HR Compliance initiatives/projects by participating in both department and cross-functional team meetings and conference calls, etc.
Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and HR Operations for Pre-boarding of new associates.
Provide cross functional back-up support within department, including responding to pre-boarding system inquiries and I-9/e-verify question and audits.
Bachelors degree in Business or Human Resources or equivalent experience
2-5 years professional experience required
Strong computer skills - Word, Excel and Power Point experience
Proficiency with multiple third party applications
Knowledge of basic employment law areas, including wage and hour law.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate process and policy information to managers, users, and service providers
Strong Customer Service
Ability to balance multiple projects while meeting deadlines
Critical thinking skills; Ability to solve problems with minimal supervision and good judgment
Ability to analyze, recommend and implement process improvements
Ability to maintain confidentiality of conversations, business records, and reports
PHR or SHRM-CP
Employee Relations, payroll/HR Operations and/or HR Compliance experience preferred
Experience with HR technology systems: Unemployment (e.g., Casebuilder), I-9 (e.g., LawLogix/Guardian or Equifax); HRIS (e.g., SAP); payroll (e.g., ADP, Ceridian); Timekeeping (e.g., Kronos); Applicant Tracking System (e.g., Success Factors or Taleo); and Learning Management Systems (Success Factors, Plateau)
