HR Compensation Scrum Master

Summary:

In the Scrum Master role, you'll serve as the servant leader for your team(s) by ensuring clear communication and helping the team reach its goal. The SM will drive the appropriate Agile methodology (Scrum/Kanban/etc) focused on predictable, quality delivery and driving continuous improvement of the team. The SM will facilitate team productivity by removing impediments that may obstruct the pursuit of the team's goals and by preserving flexibility and ability to rapidly respond to changes on the team.

General Responsibilities:

  • Partners with Product Owners & Product Managers to frame the scope and goals of each pod, define the roles and responsibilities of each team member, and determine the cadence of ceremonies

  • Partners with Product Owners to facilitate longer term planning, including quarterly PI planning sessions

  • Partners with Product Owners to build and maintain product roadmaps

  • Partners with Product Owners to build and groom a healthy backlog, including prioritization of future sprints

  • Facilitates pod ceremonies and planning, including stand-ups, grooming, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives

  • Leverages knowledge of compensation and upstream/downstream dependencies to ensure the best pod outcomes

  • Represents team at scrum of scrums (S2); identifies and resolves impediments using a network of peers and formal channels, escalates as necessary

  • Develops project artifacts such as kickoff decks, Jira boards, meeting minutes, and leadership presentations

  • Partners with other Scrum masters to identify inter-dependencies across various pods

  • Integrates current and emerging Agile & Lean principles and tools into team practices and work products

  • Actively seek and participate in a variety of learning opportunities such as Communities of Practice, conferences, classroom training and independent study to further develop self and community.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 1 year of Agile or project management experience

  • Experience developing presentations for an executive audience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Compensation or related HR or Finance experience

  • 2+ Years of Agile experience

  • Experience as part of an agile team

  • Scrum Alliance CSM or CSP certification or PMI's Agile Certified Professional (ACP)

  • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification

  • SAFe certified or experience (or other scaled agile frameworks)

  • Experience using Jira

Job Description In the Scrum Master role, you'll serve as the servant leader for your team(s) by ensuring clear communication and helping the team reach its goal. The Scrum Master will drive the appropriate Agile methodology (Scrum/Kanban/etc.) focused on predictable, quality delivery and driving continuous improvement of the team while keeping a focus on metrics such as lead time, cycle time and velocity including WIP management. The Scrum Master will facilitate team productivity by removing impediments that may obstruct the pursuit of the team's goals and by preserving flexibility and ability to rapidly respond to changes on the team. General Responsibilities: * Serves as Scrum Master for one or more teams * Ensures team maintains focus on quality and continuous delivery of business value * Leads ceremonies through agile methodologies following agile principles (Intent refinement, sprint planning, retro, etc.) * Helps team pro-actively identify impediments and recommends solutions to remove impediments * Represents team in daily or Scrum of Scrums (S2) meeting and clearly communicates team accomplishments, impediments, and downstream impacts. * Coaches the team to improve collaboration and self-organization * Demonstrates ability to balance data with other factors when making decisions * Understands domain architecture and upstream/downstream dependencies * Proficient in JIRA to manage projects * Utilizes team feedback and analyzes data (quality, delivery rate, etc) to identify areas of opportunity and improve team efficiency and delivery * Actively seeks and participates in a variety of learning opportunities such as Communities of Practice, conferences, classroom training and independent study to further develop self and community * Strong communication, problem solving, and influencing skills Basic Qualifications: * High School Diploma, GED or Military experience * At least 1 Year Agile experience * Certified Scrum Master Preferred Qualifications: * PMP, Lean, Agile, Six Sigma certification * SAFe certified or experience (or other scales Agile frameworks) At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.
