This role will partner with business leaders to implement and execute HR strategies focused on talent management, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, and employee engagement. In addition, they will own programs that run across the broader HR team. To be successful in this role, you must understand business priorities and translate them into the highest impact work. You will help business leaders look around corners with data-driven recommendations that improve performance, retention, and the overall employee experience.

To succeed, you will need a flexible skill set, including the ability to think strategically, execute tactically, and collaborate across many teams, levels, and situations.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities * Works with minimal supervision in a highly visible position. * Acts in a consultative role with the utmost confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy. * Deals extensively with all levels of management and staff using sound business judgment. * Performs HR duties that are generalist in nature with an emphasis on recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, and compensation. * Recruits for overtime eligible and exempt positions needed in Thousand Oaks, Washington DC, as well as other states as requested and appropriate. * Has a solid understanding of employment laws and regulations to maintain SAGE's position as an Equal Opportunity Employer and to ensure policies and procedures are in compliance and are fair and equitable. * Acts professionally internally and externally to proactively promote SAGE as an Employer of Choice in both the geographic and publishing communities. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provides confidential and appropriate consultation to managers and/or individual employees for employment relations matters and compliance issues (e.g., progressive discipline, grievance resolution/investigations, performance management, harassment allegations, wellness, morale, work/family issues). * Works with the Employee Assistance Program to insure appropriate support is provided to employees when given management referrals. * Proactively communicates with appropriate managers on the 90- and 180-day probationary review process. * Participates in the development of the annual Human Resources budget. * Supports the OD Manager in the annual performance evaluation process for T.O. employees including reviewing drafts of reviews by managers, assisting with meetings between managers and staff in delivering reviews, etc. * Researches, develops and/or revises, implements, administers, and interprets company HR policies, procedures, and programs. * Other duties as assigned by the Director of HR/OD. Works with the OD Manager to coordinate the annual performance appraisal and merit increase salary cycle process for U.S. employees. * Prepares ad hoc departmental reports for management detailing employee information/HR data, as needed. * With high accuracy, acquires approvals and processes immigration paperwork. * Ensures company compliance with federal and state mandated programs such as EEOC reporting requirements, AAP reporting and compliance, annual workers' compensation reporting, unemployment insurance and state disability, etc. and other legislation which impacts the employer-employee relationship. * Provide information for payroll on revenue sharing bonus eligibility twice each year. Recruiting * Supports and implements specific recruitment strategies to achieve required staffing levels. * Meets with hiring managers to review and agree on specific recruiting plans for approved open positions. Assist managers in developing/formulating interview questions as needed. * Determines the most effective placement of recruitment advertising/posting to ensure approved positions are filled with the most qualified and appropriate candidates at the lowest cost in the least amount of time using a variety of recruiting techniques and avenues. * Reviews job description with hiring manager to be sure it is properly classified as overtime eligible or exempt and that it is up to date. Ensures updated job description is stored in the appropriate HR folder. * Creates text for recruitment advertising and reviews with hiring managers to ensure job description is properly reflected. * Supports efforts to develop and maintain professional relationships with college, university, and community placement offices, employment agencies, advertising agencies, etc. and attend appropriate job/career fairs as a source to generate qualified applicants. * Coordinates recruitment efforts, including conducting telephone screenings and interviews, working with the scheduling team to schedule interviews of applicants with hiring managers and other internal interviewing staff, working with the manager of interns to conduct appropriate job testing, initiating background screenings, and extending employment offers. * Coordinates details of relocation, when appropriate, including securing temporary housing, etc. * Writes appropriate and accurate offer letters (using approved templates and good judgment for exceptions), promotion memos, transfer memos, etc. * Ensures accuracy of data needed on employee change notices. * Processes employee referral bonuses at initial hire and at appropriate intervals. * Conducts and participates in employee new hire orientations. * Tracks, analyzes, and prepares hiring/termination data and cost analyses as needed, such as exit interview analyses, making suggestions for new analyses as appropriate. * Participates in the preparation of the recruiting assumptions for the annual Human Resources budget. * Supports the HR Business Partner in charge of temporary recruiting requests, including selection of agency for utilization, placement of order, coordination of requirements/details, interfacing with agencies on problem resolution, coding/processing invoices. * Prepares exit documentation for voluntary terminations and conducts exit interviews. * Supports the HR Business Partner in charge of salary surveys to prepare information for and participate on behalf of SAGE in appropriate geographic and industry-related * * ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES The additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: * Provide back up to the Director of HR/OD in her absence, as designated and appropriate. * Provide back up support for any and all other HR functions. * Provide back up support to Facilities/Office Services function.
