The Housing and Permitting Specialist provides comprehensive administrative support for the Housing and Code Compliance division. Responsibilities include providing administrative support to the Code Compliance Division, manages building permits processing, and provides hands-on support for inquiries and requests related to building permits, rental inspections, and Code Compliance with a focus on precision and customer service excellence.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Building Permit Expertise:
Personally oversee the processing of building permit applications, applying a keen eye for detail.
Verify and validate project details to ensure alignment with the relevant provisions of the City Code.
Code Compliance Skills:
Legal Process Management:
Vendor Coordination:
Manage the assignment of public nuisance and abatement orders to approved vendors, overseeing the entire process.
Process vendor invoices for payment, ensuring accuracy and adherence to financial protocols.
In-Depth Research Abilities:
Organizational Excellence:
Showcase exceptional time management and organizational skills, handling multiple responsibilities with efficiency.
Uphold a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service to all stakeholders.
Administrative Proficiency:
Take responsibility for preparing requisitions for the purchase of supplies and equipment, ensuring operational continuity.
Maintain confidentiality of records and correspondence, upholding the highest standards of professionalism.
Flexibility and Initiative:
Special Requirements:
ICC Permit Technician Certification within one year of employment.
Compliant with the training requirements of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) including, but not limited to, IS-100.c
Intro to Incident Command System, IS-200.c
Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response and IS-700.b
Introduction to National Incident Management System within three months.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years of experience as an administrative specialist or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skill in current Windows and Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience as a paralegal, with code compliance or similar field.
Knowledge of municipal housing codes, ordinances, rules, regulations, and permit procedures.
Salary: $57,159 Annually
