The Raleigh Convention and Performing Arts Complex is seeking a Maintenance Worker to provide set-up and clean-up services in support of the events and day-to-day operations at the complex. Work will include maintaining buildings; janitorial work and cleaning; collecting and disposing of waste materials; assisting with furniture moves and/or event set-up; assisting with unloading and storing supplies; maintaining cleanliness of work area, tools and equipment; and following safety policies and procedures.
This position requires irregular schedules including evenings, weekends and holidays. Rotating shifts of Monday through Friday; 7:00am to 3:30pm or 3:00pm to 11:30pm. Shifts will vary according to event schedule.
Move and place large quantities of facility equipment and furnishings such as tables and table skirting, chairs, stages, risers, steps, wall panels, coat racks, dance floors and seating platforms and more in support of scheduled events
Tear down facility equipment and furnishings and return all items to appropriate locations, ensuring items are clean and operable for future use, and/or reporting any damage to supervisor
Perform janitorial functions such as vacuum, spot clean and extract carpets; sweep; wash walls windows, woodwork and counter tops; polish and dust furniture; clean and stock restrooms; remove and recycle trash; high and low dusting of ledges; clean loading docks, entry ways, doors, elevators, escalators and stairwells
Maintain facility cleanliness and proper equipment set-up during scheduled events.
Operate and maintain facility equipment and systems such as scissor lift and other event related equipment
Operate and maintain housekeeping equipment such as standard and motorized ride-on vacuums, carpet cleaners (spotters), carpet sweepers, auto-scrubbers, pressure cleaners and chemical applicators
Operate and maintain material handling equipment and vehicles to support general operations
Read and understand scale drawings of facility floor plans and event documents in order to set and prepare facility spaces for events according to event work orders
Support facility Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by focusing on environmental sustainability and conservation of resources
Provide face-to-face customer service to facility users and guests
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED and one year of maintenance or customer service experience related to assignment
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.Knowledge of:
