POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for assigning tasks, monitoring techs, and reporting activities regarding the daily cleaning of patient rooms, nursing stations, lounges, lavatories, bathrooms, offices and other assigned areas. Responsible to adjust the daily work schedule as necessary to cover the shift.

This position has exposure industrial strength cleaning chemicals, radiation, body fluids, and communicable diseases. The majority of work time is spent standing and walking (up to 80% of work time). Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 25 lbs (up to 20% of the work time) is required. Frequent pushing and pulling is required regarding the movement of medical equipment and the housekeeping supply cart.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL AND SKILL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

Position requires the ability to interact in a positive manner with coworkers, patients, and their families. Must have strong communication skills to be able to provide direction to staff either verbally or in writing. Institutional cleaning experience is required.

The supervisor is responsible for direct oversight of the staff. The incumbent will assist in the operation of the department as necessary. He/She contributes information to the manager for the annual evaluation of staff. The incumbent is competent at performing all sleep disorders studies and neurological diagnostic testing. This requirement includes trouble-shooting all patient/device interfaces (hardware and software). The supervisor is responsible for equipment preparation and calibration for proper function and making adjustments as necessary. He/She conducts patient introduction and orientation to the SDC including patient evaluation, education and documentation as well as patient hook-up according to AASM published standards. The supervisor is responsible for monitoring the patient during the procedure and intervening as necessary. The supervisor is responsible for scoring the polysomnograph after the data acquisition. The supervisor assists the manager in initial training and competency check-offs for new staff and helps with on-going in-services and training. The supervisor is accountable for monitoring non-licensed staff on shift for performance standards held by an AASM accredited facility. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED CPR, RPSGT SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL AND SKILL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED H.S. Diploma or GED. Completion of didactic requirements of the AASM and achieved Registered status through the BRPT. Must have the ability to interact with other healthcare workers, patients and physicians and possess the ability to work with computers. Prior supervisory experience is desirable but not required.
