3rd Shift Position
Cleans all areas of the Hospital by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Environmental Services Department.
Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators and stairways in a clean, neat and sanitary manner.
Completes work assignments in a timely manner and utilizes computerized bed tracking system properly.
Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
Uses and maintains equipment properly.
Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.
Always introduces self to patients, families and visitors.
Reports safety hazards as appropriate.
Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area.
Follows all infection control practices including handwashing techniques, Standard Precautions and isolation precautions.
Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties.
Works day, evening or night shift as assigned.
Ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision.
Observes safety precautions at all times.
Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
Maintains regulatory requirements.
Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.
Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly.
Completes inservices and returns in a timely fashion.
Attends annual review and department inservices, as scheduled.
Attends at least 8 staff meetings annually, reads and returns all monthly staff meeting minutes.
Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.
High School Diploma or GED required; or at least six 6 months related work experience required without high school diploma or GED. High school diploma or GED preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to read and understand equipment operation manual.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
A. Physical demands considered heavy work as defined by the U.S. Dept of Labor.
Maximum lift to 25 to 50 pounds on a frequent basis, with a maximum of 50 to 100 pounds on occasion. Ability to lift, push, pull, and / or move objects and equipment that fit within these weight categories.
