PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under general supervision and following established procedures, performs a variety of tasks to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned areas. Including but not limited to the following areas: Offices, laboratories, public areas, outpatient and inpatient areas.

DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY:

As a Housekeeper, you are delegated the authority, responsibility and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT / DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Occasionally helps to train new employees to perform assigned tasks Selects materials, supplies & equipment from designated areas. Notifies Lead Housekeeper when supplies are getting low.

Loads supplies onto cart & transports work cart to assigned areas. Restocks cart at end of shift

Sweeps, dusts & wet-mops hard & resilient floors of assigned areas according to procedures. May use auto scrubber or other types of powered equipment to clean or polish floors

Vacuums, spot cleans carpeted floors and weather mats

Attends monthly staff meetings

Dry dusts, damp dusts & washes horizontal & vertical surfaces such as walls, doors, partitions as well as ledges, pipes, corners and other hard to reach surfaces using step stools or ladders as necessary

Cleans & polishes mirrors, stainless steel, brass, and other decorative materials as necessary. Removes graffiti

Vacuums, spot cleans carpeted floors and weather mats moves & arranges furniture & equipment in an orderly fashion after cleaning

Sanitizes & disinfects sinks, toilets, showers, tubs & other restroom fixtures & accessories. Refills dispensers as required

Disposes of waste & linen, including contaminated & or pathological & chemotherapy waste according to procedures

Cleans and re-lines receptacles with clean bags

Reports facility repair needs to the immediate Supervisor

Returns unused supplies to designated areas

Assists in disaster response drills

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Required: High School diploma or GED equivalent

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Extremes of heat and cold plus temperature changes; wet and humid; noise and vibration; hazards; fumes, odors, toxic conditions, dust, poor ventilation

Selects materials or supplies from storage; informs the D.E.S. when supplies will be needed. Places orders with the Purchasing Department. Keeps her/his equipment and work space neat, clean and safe. Cleans equipment and re-stocks at the end of each shift. Places soiled linens and trash in the proper location for disposal. Thoroughly cleans all spaces per written procedure. Arranges furniture, makes beds as required. Washes laundry and distributes, as necessary. Must be able to mix chemicals per labeled instructions.
