Job Summary # Statement of Purpose According to established procedures cleans and services the Surgical Services area. Moves#furniture, equipment, and supplies, in and around the area in a neat, orderly, and sanitary#condition. Essential Functions, Responsibilities, and Duties Establishes and maintain interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors, co-workers, and other#hospital personnel, while assuring confidentiality of patient information. Selects cleaning materials and supplies and prepares solutions according to policies and#procedures. Cleans Surgical Services, including CSPD areas according to policies and procedures. This#includes floors, walls, tile, toilets, hopper, furniture, equipment, doors, doorframes, stretchers, operating room beds, and vents. Maintains a record of compliance of regulatory cleaning set fforth by the hospital schedule for cleaning supporting AORN and AAMI guidelines. Collects and disposes of blood and body fluids in a safe manner following Universal Blood#Precautions. Collects all waste (including hazardous waste) and sanitize all garbage containers. This includes changing sharps containers, medication black boxes and sustainable solution containers or bags. Collects all soiled linen and delivered to laundry bin outside of Laundry Department. Distributes all clean linen to their assigned areas and replaces all linen on stretchers and OR#beds. Cleans all patient areas following policies and procedures using Universal Blood Precautions. Cleans the OR in a systematic and efficient manner between cases, to have both clean OR#S and#quick turnover times. The cleaning procedures are based on the AORN and AAMI guidelines. Requests and obtains cleaning supplies and equipment as needed. Operates various types of cleaning equipment as needed. Inventories, dates and stocks IV warmers and irrigation bottles. Cleans equipment and notifies the Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse of any equipment needing#repair or of any hazards. The technician also disinfects any equipment that needs to be sent to the Biomedical Engineer or the Maintenance department. Replaces anesthesia circuits after cases when used. Returns unused supplies to the environmental supply closet, cleans cleaning equipment and#ensures all items are replaced in an orderly manner. Changes cubicle curtains as per procedure. May climb ladders to change cubicle drapes, or clean areas that are high. Involves maintenance#for higher tasks such as changing lightbulbs. Perform other assigned or required tasks. Works with chemicals and infectious waste most of the day. Job Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Prefer previous hospital housekeeping experience, other related cleaning experience.
