The Housekeeper maintains a clean and sanitary environment for the Club facilities. This position reports to the Facility Maintenance Manager or Housekeeping Supervisor.


  • Inspect and clean all Club buildings on a daily schedule, according to BlueStar standards and procedures as assigned.

  • Clean all facilities as assigned, including floors, carpets, walls, ledges, pictures, mirrors, furniture, fixtures and equipment; empty garbage containers.

  • Assist Maintenance Department in completing duties as assigned.

  • Maintain an infection-free facility by thorough washing, cleaning, and replacing equipment and/or furnishings.

  • Report repairs or the need for replacements to the facility maintenance manager; follow up to assure repair meets facility standards.

  • Work in a safe manner and use all personal protective equipment (safety gear) assigned; report unsafe conditions or accidents to a supervisor.

  • Comply with all rules and regulations (including OSHA, EPA, and state Health Department) for using cleaning products and chemicals, as provided by the Facility or Club General Manager.

  • Assist with set up and tear down for Club events.

  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Six months' experience in housekeeping or hospitality.

  • Current First Aid or other safety certifications, as required by the Club.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members about job tasks and responsibilities.

  • Desire to contribute to a productive work environment by maintaining a positive attitude with team members and the public.

  • Must demonstrate initiative, with an ability to think, work, solve practical problems, and make independent decisions based on sound judgment.

  • Must have good time management, organizational, and follow-up skills.

  • Must be able to consistently achieve high work standards; attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness is expected.

  • Must be able to pay attention to multiple details and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.

  • This position requires a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends.

  • Valid driver's license may be required.


This position operates in both an indoor and outdoor environment with exposure to weather conditions, and occasionally native wildlife, when outdoors on the facility grounds. Outdoor environments may require walking on cement while pushing a cart or carrying items. There may be exposure to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment can be moderate to loud, depending on the equipment or machines used.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see and hear, speak clearly and understand the speech of another person. This position is very active and requires standing, bending, and walking for most of a work shift; sitting and driving, using hands to fingers, touching and holding, and reaching with hands and arms. The position requires the ability to lift and/or push or pull items weighing up to 25-30 pounds. Employees are required to wear all assigned personal protective equipment.

Responsibilities Under supervision, cleans, polishes, and sanitizes gathering and public spaces including lobbies, halls, stairwells, activities rooms, dining rooms, elevators, etc. to present the community in a positive and impressive manner for residents and guests. Cleans residents' apartments on a weekly basis or as needed. In addition, interacts with residents and guests in a friendly and courteous manner, providing assistance and directions as requested. Cleans floors to include sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting, etc. Properly sets up appropriate caution and safety signs to ensure safety of residents and visitors and ensures their removal as appropriate. Cleans carpets including vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.Removes dirt, dust, grease, film, etc., from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions. Handles hazardous cleaning supplies according to proper procedures and ensures accurate labeling.Cleans public restrooms including washing, sanitizing, and/or polishing bathroom fixtures. Ensures that water marks are removed from fixtures.Visits assigned residences to perform basic apartment cleaning of bathroom fixtures and floors. Wipes surfaces in kitchen and ensures that appliances are clean. Vacuums and feather dusts surfaces in apartment. Avoids disturbing residents' belongings and respects privacy. Removes linens from bed and returns to resident for cleaning. Makes beds with clean linens according to resident's preferences. Logs cleaning activities as required by procedures.Interacts with residents in a friendly manner, providing meaningful attention. Communicates concerns with resident's health to management as appropriate.Attends and participates in in-service educational classes, on-the-job training programs, etc., as scheduled or directed.Responds appropriately to resident emergencies by calling or contacting appropriate internal and external parties, according to established protocol.
