GENERAL SUMMARY The House Supervisor provides direct nursing and administrative support for all clinical units to ensure continuity of patient care. In partnership with clinical leadership, providers and unit staff, the House Supervisor assures that the standards of nursing practice and the standards of performance are achieved. #Utilizes knowledge of growth and development over the life span and demonstrates skill in application of this knowledge to the nursing care process.# FUNCTIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. # # Promotes and maintains the mission, vision, values, philosophy and strategic goals of the organization# 2. # # Collaborates with providers, nurses and other members of the health care team to ensure effective delivery of patient care services with a focus on critical clinical events# 3. # # Continuously evaluates the needs of clinical care areas and assists nursing staff to meet patient care needs during acute volume fluctuations# 4. # # Evaluates staffing levels, patient volumes and coordinates allocation of staffing resources# 5. # # Functions as the primary point of contact in determining bed availability and appropriate placement of patients# 6. # # Facilitates patient flow, including direct patient care as needed#### may include:# a) # #Evaluating and coordinating of bed/nursing assignments# b) # #Transporting patients that require ongoing cardiac monitoring and/or nursing assessment# c) # #Initiating admission assessment, problem identification, care planning and documentation d) Completing time sensitive patient care orders# d) # #Communicating all pertinent information to the assigned nurse# e) # #Escalating communication, as necessary to the department leader and/or Administrator on Call (AOC). 7. # # Acts as a resource for staff and other professionals for a variety of situations that have administrative and clinical components, i.e., medical examiner cases, disaster plan implementation, and inter-facility transfers# 8. # # Assist staff with service recovery as needed# 9. # # Act as a member of code, assistance and rapid response teams# 10. # # Participates in incident command (IC) and may be first IC in an emergency management event# 11. # # Participate in quality improvement activities# 12. # # Function within the boundaries of and ensure compliance with organizational policy as well as standards and the scope of Nursing Practice as defined by the New Hampshire Nurse Practice Act.# 13. # #Serves as a member of the nursing leadership team. 14. # #Demonstrates professional communication with department leaders as well as the AOC, as necessary. 15. # #Participates in department staff meetings as well as organization-wide leadership meetings.#### OTHER FUNCTIONS:#Primary accountability and results for other functions that may be part of the job but are not #essential# as defined by the ADA.# 1. # # Lead educational/training efforts on evenings, nights and weekends.# 2. # # Conduct medical record (peer) reviews with real-time feedback to employees and trend reports to nurse managers.# 3. # # May be required to perform other duties of lesser, equal or greater levels of responsibility.# POSITION REQUIREMENTS# Knowledge / Skills / Abilities # Experience (Minimum Needed): # # 2 years previous charge nurse/management or nursing supervision/Critical Care# Experience # Education # Education (Minimum Needed):# BSN preferred or matriculated in BSN program within the first one to two years of employment.
