Salary Range: $15.14 - $18.93 hourly

Hiring Range: $15.14 - $17.01 hourly

Job Summary:

The House Manager is responsible for overseeing performance arrangements for every event held at UCCC. Responsibilities include supervising front-of-house volunteer staff, overseeing audience safety and comfort, administering general building services during an event. Acts as liaison between tenant and UCCC in a non-technical capacity.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills:

Minimum Requirements

  • One to three (1-3) years of customer service experience.

Preferred

  • English/Spanish bilingual.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability and desire to work in Performing Arts environment in a service capacity.

  • Collaboration skills, including the ability to work with others from different areas and backgrounds to reach a common goal.

  • Computer skills, including the ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and learn and experiment with new software and systems.

  • Interpersonal skills, including the ability to facilitate interaction, communication, and teamwork between others.

  • Oral, written, and listening communication skills, including the ability to accurately interpret what others are saying and convey messages, information, concepts, and details accurately and clearly.

  • Organizational skills, including the ability to set and meet goals and deadlines, manage appointments, create schedules, coordinate and facilitate meetings, and make decisions.

  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple concurrent and competing tasks and responsibilities, and adapt to changing priorities while maintaining personal effectiveness.

  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and stay on task when completing special projects and daily assignments.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and reliable professional judgment, as well as collaboratively with a team to achieve desired results.

  • Ability to maintain a strong work ethic, positive problem-solving attitude, and enthusiasm for the work performed.

  • Ability to self-start and take initiative in completing daily tasks and special projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees performance arrangements for events held at the UCCC.

  • Supervises front-of-house volunteer staff.

  • Oversees audience safety and comfort, administering general building services during an event.

  • Acts as liaison between tenant and UCCC in a non-technical capacity.

  • Ensures follow-through on all details for event. Verify the UCCC is correctly set and prepared to tenant's use.

  • Conducts pre-show meetings with volunteer staff to assign responsibilities and place equipment and programs.

  • Works with ticket office and stage manager to ensure event begins on time and to tenant's satisfaction.

  • Notifies recreation staff when event has concluded and secure and lock front of house.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Employee may have frequent contact with the public--in person, via email/telephone, sometimes facing adverse or confrontational situations with internal/external customers.

  • Variable hours may be required to workdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.

  • Ability to remain in a standing (walking) position for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to lift and move 25 pounds.

  • Communication skills enough to hear and convey information to/from the public via telephone and in person.

  • Operate standard office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.

  • Vision enough to interpret computer screens and documents to assist the public and complete work assignments; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Manual dexterity enough to accurately input, retrieve and verify work assignments; employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
