The Department of Family Medicine & Population Health is seeking a part-time, non-benefited (20-29 hours per week) hourly research assistant to join our team. This position will support primary care research study activities conducted by the VCU Family Medicine Research Team and support Virginia's Ambulatory Care Outcomes Research Network (ACORN). Applicants must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, between the hours of 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday, on-site at the Richmond, Virginia office location.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Participate in research activities including recruitment, screening, consenting, and enrollment
Assist with qualitative and quantitative data collection
Review and record medical documentation and patient surveys into REDCap and Excel databases
Assist with medical chart abstraction
Organize patient lists, prepare for printing, and assemble large survey mailings
Contact community resources and primary care practices by phone and/or email
Participate in staff meetings and trainings
Administrative tasks including planning and scheduling meetings
Support the PI and other senior study staff with study activities to ensure the study complies with all requirements
Minimum Requirements
Previous research experience, including experience handling large data sets including data entry skills
Must have excellent communication, written, and interpersonal skills
Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
Able to maintain HIPAA standards as required by the VCU & VCU Health
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as an employee of VCU
Must be available to work on-site at our office in Richmond, Virginia
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
2 years of direct research experience
Familiarity with Microsoft Office REDCap, and/or Epic

This is a restricted, grant-funded position with no set end date. Continued employment is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance.
