Department Overview

Hot Section Module Center (HSMC) South is a world class fabricator of both military and commercial turbine airfoils. HSMC South is looking for a high energy, self-starter to assume the role as the quality engineer team leader in the production and development of turbine airfoils.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to the inspection and manufacturing communities

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes and hardware to determine compliance to applicable requirements

  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance shop quality signature

  • Perform data analysis of quality non-conformances

  • Support shop non-compliance investigations to determine root cause, identifying robust corrective actions and tracking effectiveness

  • Support preparation efforts for external quality audits such as the AS9100 certification

  • Support product escapes investigations and population bounding efforts

  • Support day to day manufacturing activities such as review and approval of work instructions, process authorization requests (PAR), and first article inspections (FAI).

  • Team with supplier quality engineering to resolve supplier issues that impact shop hardware

  • Construct and perform quality presentations to a technical community.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in related field, preferably engineering

  • US Citizenship required due to government contracts

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

  • Fluent in English (verbal/written)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with inspection tooling and techniques,

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a group setting and interface directly with shop floor inspection and operations personnel

  • Proficient in the use of continuous improvement tools, such as robust root cause analysis (RRCA) and principles of lean manufacturing.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Are you ready to go beyond?</p><p>Department Overview</p><p>Hot Section Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to be a part of our Engineering Development Program (EDP).</p><p>The Engineering Development Program is a multiyear program for new college hires that has been implemented to:</p><ul><li><p>Accelerate technical capability through substantive work rotations focused in specific disciplines</p></li><li><p>Connect EDP participants with a network of technical resources &amp; engineering experts.</p></li></ul><p>This requisition is intended for those obtaining their bachelor's degree by December 2022 or June 2023. Employees may be eligible to work onsite or in a hybrid arrangement depending on the requirements of the specific position.</p><p>This position may require up to 10% travel.</p><p>Key Responsibilities</p><ul><li><p>Resolution of mechanical engineering problems of difficult and complex scope, seeking a balanced system solution, ensuring engineering excellence, all with oversight.</p></li><li><p>Generate development hardware design solutions that meet the objectives of the test engines and facilitate the delivery of the development hardware to the test engines on schedule.</p></li><li><p>Work with Operations to address production issues and evaluate hardware nonconformances to facilitate the timely delivery of production hardware.</p></li><li><p>Process technically sound engineering changes within program schedule that meet performance metrics such as cost, weight, and part life.</p></li><li><p>Work with our Customer Technical Support (CTS) team to respond to customer questions, review deteriorated hardware, and update engine maintenance manual limits.</p></li><li><p>Utilize standard work and CORE/ACE tools.</p></li></ul><p>Basic Qualifications</p><ul><li><p>Graduating by December 2022 or June 2023 from an accredited university degree program</p></li><li><p>Applicable fields of study include: Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems Engineering, or a related field</p></li><li><p>Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher</p></li><li><p>U.S. Citizenship due to government contract requirements</p></li><li><p>Fluent in English (verbal/written)</p></li></ul><p>Preferred Qualifications</p><ul><li><p>Prior internship or co-op experience in the aerospace and defense industry, especially with Pratt &amp; Whitney or other Raytheon Technologies companies</p></li><li><p>Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a consistent record of collaboration, innovation, and initiative</p></li><li><p>A passion for learning about and pursuing a career in aviation and aerospace</p></li><li><p>Creative problem-solving skills and adaptability in responding to new business challenges</p></li><li><p>Eager to learn new things, contribute a fresh perspective, and share your knowledge with others</p></li><li><p>This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).</p></li></ul><p>What is my role type?</p><p>In addition to transforming the future of flight, we are also transforming how and where we work.
