Job title: Host/Floor Captain

Reports to: Restaurant Manager/ Supervisor on duty

Job Summary:

The successful Host/Floor Captain assists the Restaurant Manager on duty with the day-to-day activities of the front-of-the-house to ensure consistently high levels of quality, service and guest satisfaction while maintaining a high level of profitability.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide exceptional hospitality to guests and coworkers as prescribed in Our Service System (OSS)

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work environment aboard the vessel, focusing constantly on the safety of all guests and shipmates

  • Actively participate in meetings including the Manager pre-cruise briefing

  • Oversee the setting of assigned deck(s), including package assembly & placement, and sidework & section assignments

  • Assist with the warm and efficient greeting and seating of guests when they arrive.

  • Coordinate buffets and table invitations on assigned deck(s)

  • Assist Servers and Server Assistants with table service

  • Maintain a high level of energy and a positive attitude

  • Lead by example, by remaining consistently professional and positive in front of staff, and maintaining a positive attitude

  • Comprehensive knowledge of all F& B Menu items, packages & POS systems

  • Interact with guests using scripted approaches

  • Participate in all entertainment as scripted

  • Table touch all individuals on deck, and meet all group leaders

  • Participate and lead post cruise clean up; assign duties, and ensure the completion of all side work

  • Participate in the "Bye Bye" line

  • Perform a walk through inspection with manager(s) at the completion of each cruise to ensure proper deck arrangement and sanitation

  • Check in with managers following the cruise to address any issues or situations, and to offer solutions to problems

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Be prepared to begin work at scheduled time

  • Maintain uniform and personal grooming in compliance with appearance standards

  • Other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor on duty


The successful Host/Floor Captain will personally contribute to the unforgettable guest experience, be favorably viewed by supervisors and peers, and be swift and efficient in the execution of their assigned duties. Performance will be measured by guest and mystery shopper satisfaction surveys, departmental tests, management evaluation, and feedback from peers on the service team.

Job Specifications / qualifications:

  • Previous restaurant experience preferred

  • Energetic and enthusiastic personality essential

  • Must possess a service orientation actively looking for ways to help others

  • Will work for extended periods of time without sitting

  • Must be able to walk stairs

  • Required to lift furniture and other heavy items such as bus tubs up and down stairs

  • Will be required to be available for work on all major holidays

  • Per US Coast Guard requirement, must be a US Citizen or a Permanent Resident

DUTIES: Candidate will be part of a team that performs system engineering, system integration, hardware and software support, and technical and administrative support services for systems within the Navy's Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN). Candidate will provide Atlassian services and support baseline updates, installation services, software support services, and system administration services. Candidate will provide services for any and all phases of system engineering, integration and support to ensure customers meet mission goals and objectives. These efforts include the full range of infrastructure design, implementation and integration, including, but not limited to, concept development, planning, requirements definition and analysis, systems design, integration, testing, implementation, deployment, support and sustainment. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Setting up environments to host Atlassian applications, including Server and Data Center * Installations and configurations of new Atlassian applications * Upgrades of existing Atlassian applications to the latest versions * Installations and configurations of external authentication systems, such as AD, LDAP, SSO, etc. * Administer JIRA and Confluence, and formulate technical solutions using JIRA and associated plugins or Atlassian products * Installations and configurations of third party add-ons for Atlassian tools to provide enhanced capabilities * Create JIRA projects, queries, and reports * Create custom workflows, post functions, and validators, make changes to workflows, screens, fields, and reporting, and provide ongoing support and configuration maintenance. * Develop solutions extending Atlassian REST services and JIRA plugins using the Atlassian SDK. Design and manage JIRA and Confluence queries and dashboards for metrics reporting for various teams * Serve as the JIRA and Atlassian technical resource for users to ensure the adoption of development and workflow processes, address user questions, and develop training, as needed * Troubleshoot various issues and problems and design creative technical solutionsMust have or be able to obtain Security + and Linux OS certifications * Candidate must meet DoD 8570 requirements for IAT Level 2 QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or related discipline, plus 5 to 7 years of directly related experience or equivalent education and experience. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 9 years applicable work experience.
