VIEW JOBS 4/1/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-06-30T00:00 Description: As part of a small team, you will develop and execute commercial quality processes for the design, test and manufacture of launch vehicles, spacecraft, and related technologies. You will be responsible to drive quality products throughout the organization by maintaining a corporate culture that emphasizes accountability, discipline, and attention to detail at all levels. You must have a passion for solving complex problems and providing operable solutions; act with minimal direction and on your own initiative; and be adaptable as you will work on a variety of applications and systems. We are looking for an individual that can implement innovative quality initiatives that will support development and low-rate engine production, as well as sub-orbital spaceflight. Responsibilities: * Capture Receiving Inspection Metrics to analyze and measure performance execution * Provide leadership to the Receiving Inspection team driving tactical execution of day to day tasks. * Enforce area standards and operational rules (includes inputs for annual reviews, regular mentoring and disciplinary action) * Expert level knowledge of Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) standards * Expert level knowledge in creating inspection fixtures working in conjunction with engineering * Maintains the calibration system within the incoming inspection area * Plans inspection equipment procurement and tooling movement to minimize disruption to daily outputs * Attend daily production operations (ISC) stand-up meeting to remain closely aligned with production needs * Review drawings and technical data packages for inspectability, provide constructive feedback to engineering/design community. * Deploy a tiered management system into Receiving Inspection with visual controls and standard cadence meetings (Business Operating System) * Identify roadblocks and implement solutions for the receiving inspection queue prior to production or integration impact * Provide process oversight and training for the Receiving Inspection Clerk, Inspectors, and Quality Engineers. Creates work schedules and enforces attendance guidelines. * On-call work as needed to support receiving inspection activities (Weekends and off-shift) * Serve as audit host in receiving inspection for regulatory and government agencies performing audits * Provide yield data on inspection activities * Responsible for following the receiving inspection FOD policy and closing all corrective actions * Integrate quality system applications between engineering, manufacturing, and operations to ensure the consistent and ongoing use of quality best practices and communication of quality issues * Provide quality assurance subject matter expertise to receiving and inspection, manufacturing and test * Maintain working knowledge of NDE and receiving inspection methodologies * Interface with external customers on department related concerns * Develop and present training materials to build receiving inspection awareness Qualifications: * 10+ experience in inspection, machining, calibration, in precision manufacturing environments * 6+ experience in engineering, receiving & inspection, quality, or related military experience in a regulated industry * CMM Programming experience (Zeiss CMM, Calypso software, PC-DMIS,) * Experience with JIRA- ITS ticket issue resolution and dispositioning * Experience with Jules NC non-conformance management system * Demonstrated ability to read and interpret controlled documentation and processes such as: mechanical drawings, GD&T, assembly procedures / work instructions, schematics, engineering drawings, and parts lists. * Must be capable of using gages, calipers, micrometers, and other common inspection tools * Aerospace, space launch, or military or commercial aviation preferred * Knowledge of NDE and receiving inspection methodologies * Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 Quality Management System and/or related quality systems and programs * Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum * Ability to support 1st and 2nd shift operations Desired: * Quality assurance experience in production environment * Presentation skills and effective interpersonal communication * Relevant experience in transitioning a product from development, through production to operations Blue Origin offers a phenomenal work environment and awesome culture with competitive compensation, benefits, 401K, and relocation.
