Job Summary

The Hospitalist (Clinical Specialist) strengthens Abbotts value proposition by enabling a clinical improvement through effective engagement with physicians. Supports customers identifying, quantifying, and acting on clinical opportunities through changes in the laboratory service level. Collaborates with appropriate hospital committees to define best practice protocols, help create clinical decision support algorithms, and socialize practice change.

Travel: 40% (US only; Will include travel to many of the country's most prestigious healthcare institutions).

Enables engagement and support for physicians regarding laboratory services. Ensures full value of Abbott solutions is realized and grows be effectively engaging physicians. Enables differentiation from competitors and encourages broader investment in laboratory medicine by demonstrating the financial viability of such investments. Interfaces with physicians to create clinical and financial gains.

Key Success Factors

  • Ability to assess clinical operations including protocols, physician communication, integrated care team performance, and utilization of shared services

  • Comprehensive understanding of hospital and physician processes

  • Ability to interface with physicians / physician committees and influence change for improved patient and financial outcomes

Ideal/Preferred Experience, Education:

  • MD ideal, but not required.

  • 5-7(+) years experience as any of the following: Physician's Assistant, Nurse Practitioner or MD (preferred).

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Medicine, Surgery, Health Sciences or Clinical Medicine.

  • 3 years of experience working with clinical decision support systems, clinical guidelines or diagnostic support frameworks
