Position Summary and Qualifications Hospitalist

Deborah Heart and Lung Center is a tertiary care teaching hospital, located in south/central NJ, a short commute from Philadelphia, the Jersey Shore and Princeton. We are recruiting for an experienced Hospitalist to provide adult inpatient care to a predominantly cardiac population. Among its many achievements, Deborah consistently ranks #1 in NJ and in the top 10 percentile nationally for inpatient employee satisfaction.

This position collaborates with the other Hospitalists and other members of our fully-employed Medical Staff, participates in the training of our Cardiology Fellows, and plays a central role in our multi-disciplinary care delivery team (including Physician Assistant and APN support), working on an inpatient service with an average daily census of approximately 15-20 patients. This Full-time position provides M-F schedule of typically 9-10 hours per day, with weekend call approximately every 6th weekend; weeknight call from home.

Qualified candidates will be BC/BE in Internal medicine, have an active NJ license and outstanding clinical, collaboration and communication skills.

VIEW JOBS 2/28/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-05-29T00:00 Position Summary and Qualifications Chair - Department of Cardiology Founded in 1922, Deborah Heart and Lung Center is an academic teaching hospital which specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of adult coronary, valvular, congenital and structural heart disease, as well as vascular and pulmonary disease, while providing outpatient cardiology services for children. In 2018, our patient volume reflected more than 5,300 admissions and same day procedures and 63,200 ambulatory care registrations. Cardiovascular procedures included over 4,500 cardiac catheterizations, 3,163 electrophysiology procedures, and 498 cardiac surgeries representing a 9% year-over-year overall growth in clinical activity. The facility has an active hybrid operating room, TAVR Program, Watchman program, EP, steriotaxis capability, and high-resolution cardiac catheterization laboratories. The successful candidate will have a documented track record of collaborative leadership success advocating for both staff and administrative priorities. Contemporary experience with clinical technology and how to leverage that expertise for process and care improvement is desirable. The position requires managing a complex and diverse department, deploying employed physicians both inside and at outside practice sites, plus developing and managing budgets and formulating strategic plans. Experience in a hospital-based Cardiology Department or product line is preferred. Record of accomplishment in education, research or scholarly activities is desirable. The successful candidate will lead a growing department of 25 Cardiologists, 5 Hospitalists, 13 Advanced Practice Providers, and associated support personnel. Within Cardiology, there are ACGME-approved Fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology and Electrophysiology. The Chair will support research efforts at Deborah including more than 30 active clinical trials. The Chair of Cardiology provides oversight to Non-invasive Clinical Cardiology, Medical Intensive Care, Non-invasive Nuclear Lab, Echocardiography Lab, inpatient and outpatient services and multiple specialty clinics. The Chair also provides oversight to the Division of Interventional Cardiology/Endovascular Medicine and the Division of Electrophysiology. The Chair is expected to drive institutional priorities which include helping to lead an Advanced Heart Failure initiative to help grow the LVAD Program and enhance a network of regional referral sources.
