This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Patrick B. Harris Psychiatric Hospital, 130 SC-252, Anderson, SC 29621.

As the Risk Manager/Program Manager II, working under limited supervision of the Quality Management/Corporate Compliance, you will identify, analyze and recommend corrective measures to reduce risk to patients and staff. Monitors and evaluates safety programs, coordinates the hospital incident reporting management system and monitors disaster preparedness programs. Participates in Quality Improvement activities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists in the development, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of the Safety and Risk Management Programs and serves as chairperson of the Safety/Risk Management Committee when needed.

  • Provides leadership in all areas of the hospital's Environment of Care functions, in addition to areas of patient and employee safety.

  • Investigates and analyzes actual and potential risks in the hospital through; ongoing record review, surveillance of incident reports, environmental surveys, and facilitating risk analysis.

  • Participates in performance improvement activities to include collection, analysis, and presentation of data.

  • Recommends and implements methods of risk reduction.

  • Utilizes structured audit tools and collects data to aid in the assessment of the quality of services provided.

  • Abstracts data from medical records to meet reporting requirements of regulatory agencies.

  • Monitors the emergency preparedness of the hospital, including the assessment of periodic drills and actual events.

  • Serves as an emergency management liaison with local and state agencies.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Requirement: A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.

Agency Requirement: A bachelor's degree and three (3) years professional experience in the healthcare field processing malpractice claims, hospital risk management or civil law.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Utilization Review and/or Safety/Risk Management.

Additional Comments

The selected applicant must have the ability to use required equipment, i.e. Travel among DIS sites of care, reach, pull, push, stoop, bend, climb stairs and walk to various locations. Communicates effectively verbally and in writing and makes sound judgement and independent decisions.

Utilizes knowledge of behaviors and level of functioning of adult and dually diagnosed psychiatric patients in implementing therapeutic and educational services.</p><p>Responsibilities include but are not limited to:</p><ul><li><p>Conducts active treatment, particularly group therapy and individual therapy, across lodges. Most treatment provided will be in group modalities.</p></li><li><p>Documents on active treatment provided in the medical record, according to HPH policies and procedures.</p></li><li><p>Works with interdisciplinary treatment team on all lodges to identify needs in active treatment and with input of Director of Professional Services, develops programming to address. Advises Director of professional Services of strengths and areas for improvement in active treatment across the lodges.</p></li><li><p>Attends interdisciplinary treatment teams on rotating basis to gather and share clinical information with other members of the treatment team.</p></li><li><p>Maintains and demonstrates competency in MAPS, CPR, SCEIS Modules, Infection Control, Safety and Risk Management, Patient Rights, Corporate Compliance and Cultural Competencies.</p></li><li><p>Performs and documents designated examinations.</p></li></ul><p>Three (3)vacancies available</p><p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p><p>State Requirement: A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field and professional experience in a mental health, human service or social service program.</p><p>Agency Requirement:A master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related clinical area from an accredited program and two (2) of experience in practice subsequent to the degree.</p><p>Note: If any Agency Requirements are listed above, applicants must also meet those requirements to be considered for the position.</p><p>Preferred Qualifications</p><p>Licensure as a LISW or LPC.</p><p>Additional Comments</p><p>The selected candidate must have the ability and dedication to work with the severely and persistently mentally ill population.
