This is a PRN/As Needed Pharmacist position located in Las Vegas, NV.

Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day pharmaceutical care and management of patients

  • Interacts with patients, health care providers, clinics, and prescribers involved with the patient

  • Review prescriptions prior to dispensing and verify all questionable prescriptions

  • Ensure appropriate storage of products in the facility and compliance with all laws, regulations, and accrediting agencies standards

  • IV Compounding

  • Help establish departmental policies and procedures

  • Maintain the required number of continuing education credits to maintain credentials as required by each state license

  • Assist ancillary personnel with purchasing, inventory control and other duties

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in pharmacy required

  • PharmD preferred

  • 3+ years related pharmacy experience

  • Currently licensed to practice pharmacy in Nevada or eligible to reciprocate

  • In-patient hospital pharmacy experience is strongly preferred

  • Ability to hear, write, and speak clearly in order to communicate with customers and health care professionals

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Manual dexterity required for occasional reach, lifting and holding of small objects.

  • Flexibility to work various shifts (weekends, holidays, on call).

  • Computer savvy to learn and perform successful operation of multiple pharmacy information systems.

Clinical Staff Pharmacist - Full Time Days The Clinical Staff Pharmacist is a highly trained practitioner who plays an active role in managing all aspects of medication therapy in an acute-care hospital setting. Position tasks and responsibilities include: * Perform duties independently on Unit-based Clinical Service Areas, Central Pharmacy, Children's Hospital Pharmacy, Emergency Department Satellite and Intensive Care Unit Satellite Pharmacies. * Receive basic and advanced clinical training for specialty service areas, achieve departmentally required certifications * Consistently review the patient's medication profile, identify potential issues related to medication use and intervene accordingly * Adhere to the P&T approved Formulary System, Medication Management Policy and Procedures and approved Medication Use Guidelines * Accurately verify CPOE orders and enter medication orders electronically, review order against the patient's medication profile to screen for allergies and contraindications and to ensure drug use is clinically appropriate * Manage clinical consults ordered by the providers and enters clinical progress note to ensure effective communication with clinicians involved in care * Order pertinent laboratory tests required for appropriate drug therapy monitoring * Acknowledge and perform clinical interventions based on the rule-based clinical alert system (Vigilanz) * Prioritize clinical activities based on the needs of the critically ill patient, to meet targeted Clinical Initiatives and Goals * Monitor and validate the accuracy of dispensing functions performed by the technicians Required Job Qualifications include: * Graduate of a college of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmacy Education. * BS or Pharm.D degree. * Nevada State licensure as a Pharmacist * Minimum 1 year as a Pharmacist in an acute care setting. (Will consider new grad pharmacist with completed internships in acute care settings) * Customer service abilities including effective communication skills. * Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment. * Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.
