This job supervises and directs the work of up to 30 employees in accomplishing the housekeeping services of the hospital interior and related hospital properties, as well as coordinating these activities with other departments. This job- Zone Operations assumes responsibility for the 24/7 seamless service of assigned staff, annual performance assessments and disciplinary actions, departmental training, orientation of new employees, overall professional development of staff, and monitoring of area assignments to ensure all are maintained in a safe, clean, aseptic and operationally-effective condition.

This job provides leadership and oversight for the day-to-day operations and assists with special projects as assigned. This position is also responsible for maintaining regulatory standards, financial stewardship for the department operations and collaboration with other management and supervisory team members to support the department in its daily functions.

Education

Required- High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred- Bachelor's degree

Work Experience

Required- High School diploma and 3 years of related experience

OR

Bachelor's degree with 1 year of related experience

Preferred- Healthcare experience

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to be self-directed.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of current, applicable federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements and ability to ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations, and standards.

Job Duties

  • Supervises the necessary resources for the department, and provides recommendations for staffing levels, staff schedules, products and equipment. Supports all Human Resources responsibilities for interview, hiring, managing, staff development, staff evaluations, disciplinary action and staff engagement needs.
  • Develops, retains and inspires an engaged workforce.
  • Ensures the daily operations of the department are maintained.
  • Supervises day to day work activities by delegating authority, assigning, and prioritizing activities, and monitoring operating standards.
  • Provides excellent and professional communication.
  • Performs quality improvement initiatives under direction of leadership, and documents results and prepares necessary reports for distribution to management and others.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
