PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Under general supervision, receives orders for blood and blood products (including BioCARE), prepares blood and blood products for delivery, and delivers those products to customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Is responsible for bringing compliance issues to the attention of management.

Assures quality customer service to all customers.

Receives and prepares routine orders for blood and blood products.

Packages and delivers shipments.

Maintains accurate Hospital Services records.

Monitors all storage requirements and updates applicable records and charts. Performs quality control of storage equipment and shipping procedures.

Maintains hospital services equipment, vehicles and work area.

Performs inventory of blood products.

Receives, inspects and determines acceptability of blood components. Releases blood components from observation.

Performs basic lab functions as assigned.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge/ Education

High school graduate or GED required.

Ability to read and write required.

Skills/ Abilities

Good communication and customer relations skills in order to deal effectively with customers and staff.

Physical ability to lift (up to 50 lbs.), bend, stretch, reach and sit.

Detail oriented to ensure accuracy on paperwork.

Computer skills preferred.

Able to work on-call and various shifts including evenings and weekends, and overtime.

Must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.

Experience

No experience required.

Driving experience in a business environment preferred.

The formula ambassador must be familiar with HACCP guidelines as it pertains to ordering, storage, preparing and delivery of infant formulas and adult tube feedings for patients. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES The formula ambassador is responsible for receiving computer orders, faxing orders appropriately and in a timely manner, and requisitioning formula supplies.The formula ambassador serves as a resource for infant and adult formulas. The formula ambassador needs strong math skills to accurately calculate the formulas. The formula ambassador also has the ability to exhibit problem solving skills. This employee must have excellent customer service skills and be able to role model them continuously. This employee needs listening skills and be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors and nursing. Have the ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and nursing and be able to develop, maintain and evaluate quality control standards. When students are providing patient care, treatment, and/or services as a part of their training, any/all employees may be asked to supervise the students. DEPARTMENT DETAILS QUALIFICATIONS H.S. Graduate or GED: On-the-job training provided: Required to complete Infant and Formula Classes and pass exams.
