We are seeking a highly experienced Veterinary Client Service professional to join our leadership team as Hospital Manager.

The role demands a leader with the interpersonal and organizational skills to continue achieving our goals of delivering excellent patient care and customer service to both our clients and referring veterinarians.

The successful candidate will have experience in Human Resource and personnel management, Marketing, and Business development. Your strong financial and operational acumen will be put to good use!

The Hospital Managerunder the guidance of the Regional Management team and in partnership with the Medical Directorperforms a wide range of administrative activities related to the practice. This includes: mentoring the staff and overseeing the business operations and maintenance of the facility; ensuring the business growth and profitability of the practice; and supporting the hospital's mission of delivering high quality patient care and exceptional client service.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 2 to 3 years of customer service and financial budget management experience.

  • Knowledge of sales and marketing techniques.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially to a diverse range of audiences and settings.

  • The ability to make decisions, delegate responsibility and achieve results with hospital team members.

  • Professional comportment and appearance, with excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly, positive attitude.

  • Respect for and willingness to work with clients and their pets.

  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks and deal with an environment of changing priorities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Direct and develop the veterinary, technical and administrative staff towards the goal of quality patient care and excellent client service; assist in the formulation of objectives and policies to ensure efficient and profitable hospital operations.

  • Oversee the hiring, reviewing, disciplining and terminating of professional staff, in accordance with and with the approval of the Regional Management team.

  • Review the P&L Report monthly and partner with the Hospital Medical Director to increase revenue and limit expenses; work with home office to prepare and submit the yearly budget (budget forecast, operating plan, cap-ex expenditures) and participate in the evaluation process with Regional Management team.

  • Model an "owner" mentality in hospital by demonstrating a willingness to assist all employees in making the practice a success; invest the necessary amount of time to accomplish the required responsibilities and ensure the smooth operation of the hospital.

  • Minimizing patient stress and discomfort; recommend referral to another VCA doctor or specialist when this is likely to significantly improve the prognosis.

  • Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and make certain all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols; assist colleagues in follow-up and future management of the patient.

  • Supervise the administration and case review of client medical complaints.

  • Positively represent the hospital and VCA in the professional community and to the general public.

Dept Admin (ADA) provides clinical leadership & oversight to uphold excellence & clinical competency of staff in the provision of nursing & other clinical services through implementation of the professional practice model & evidence-based standards of care. The RN ADA is accountable for coordinating all back office clinical functions including the implementation of regionally consistent practices, processes, & protocols w/in a clinical Dept to achieve excellence in quality of care, service, access, resource utilization, employee/physician satisfaction & workplace safety. The RN ADA works closely w/ physician partners & the Dept Admin (DA) in fulfilling the job accountabilities. The RN ADA may perform patient care to the extent necessary to maintain clinical expertise & competency to fulfill job responsibilities & to direct the provision of care in the Dept & in accordance w/ licensure & regulatory requirements. Essential Functions: * Clinical Supervision: Collaborates w/ physician partners & admins & brings the professional nursing & clinical perspective to leadership team to improve quality, safety, access, & affordability. Ensures support staff working to full scope &/or certification. Collaborates w/ leadership team to identify opportunities to optimize scope of practice & ensure resource stewardship. Ensures RN's & support staff have the required knowledge & skill to perform assignment. Assists w/ providing on-going clinical skills development including the supervision of onboarding processes. Collaborates w/ Reg-l nursing srvs to implement Reg-l & Nat-l nursing strategies in accordance w/ KP's Nat-l Nursing vision, models, & values. Monitors health outcome metrics, including established Nat-l & Reg-l nurse sensitive metrics & recommends, implements & evaluates improvement strategies. Collaborates w/ leadership team & Reg-l nursing srvs to ensure clinical quality & patent safety assurance processes are conducted, trends identified & remediation strategies implemented. Collaborates w/ physician partners & Reg-l nursing srvs to ensure applicable clinical accreditation requirements met. Anticipates changes in healthcare trends & collaborates w/ Reg-l nursing srvs to effectively implement evidence based changes in nursing practice. Assess urgency of clinical situations for the purposes of determining appropriate prioritization & needed actions to assure patient safety. Provides clinical oversight of applicable nursing Care Mgmt srvs. Collaborates w/ leadership & Reg-l nursing srvs to develop recommendations, implement, & evaluate improved processes & systems w/in multi-disciplinary care teams & across the continuum of care. * Operations: Supervises & coordinates all staff activities necessary to provide excellent patient focused care. Basic Qualifications: Experience * Minimum two (2) years of business management experience -OR- minimum (2) years of proven supervisory experience. * Minimum three (3) years of experience providing direct patient care. Education * Bachelor's degree in nursing. License, Certification, Registration * Current Oregon and Washington RN license required. License in state where assigned required upon hire/transfer, application for license in secondary state required within 2 weeks of hire/transfer and must be obtained within 6 months. * Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required upon hire/transfer.
