The Administrator will provide values-based leadership to the Honolulu Shriners Hospitals for Children (SHC) by providing direction, advice and oversight to the hospitals' management and medical staff in the areas of Hospital Regulations and Bylaws, and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of healthcare organizations. This individual will serve as an integral player in the development of a high performance culture required to ensure that Shriners meets its vision and mission. In collaboration with the local Boards, national Boards of Trustees and Directors, management and medical staff at the hospital, other SHC leaders, and Headquarters (HQ) vice presidents, the Administrator will focus on the creation of vibrant, individual and integrated environments for the hospital. He / she will serve as a healthcare leader / role model who is experienced in setting hospital operational strategy and effectively enlisting others in change management and hospital organizational transformation following the direction set forth by the local Boards of Governors and SHC President and Chief Executive Office (CEO).Serving as a thought leader responsible for driving high performance across hospital teams that achieve operational excellence, the Administrator will work with hospital management and medical staff to: Proactively identify high impact operational opportunities for cost savings and drive cross-hospital synergies. Develop operational strategies and plans linked to the overarching SHC strategy. Identify opportunities to shift operational responsibilities and accountabilities, for example, centralize, decentralize and / or via share services models, where feasible. Develop strategies and plans for implementing the proposed shifts in operational responsibilities. Monitor the effectiveness in the proposed adjustments in roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities and make refinements as required. Support the development and execution of hospital system budgets and SHC reporting programs to provide patient and statistical information for administrative, managerial and clinical decision-making, as required. Implement changes to hospital policies and procedures as appropriate and at the direction of the local Boards, national Boards of Trustees and Directors, and SHC President and CEO. Serve as the main contact to troubleshoot communication issues among hospital management, medical staff, the local Boards and HQ, if necessary. Facilitate capturing and sharing of best practices among SHC hospitals. Be an effective mentor and cultivate a talented management team.
EDUCATION REQUIRED/PREFERRED: (Please list the requirements and/or preferences for the job, NOT the incumbent's and distinguish between requirements and preferences) Minimum level of formal education normally required or preferred (for example, high school graduate, college degree and field of study - Associate, Bachelors, Masters and professional certifications).
Master's degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or a related field.
Fellow, American College of Healthcare Executives preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/PREFERRED: Desired number of years of related experience.
Minimum 10 years experience in hospital and other healthcare administration, preferably with a nonprofit organization.
Deep experience in health care demonstrating increasing responsibility and successful results in financial, clinical quality and operations.
