VCA Veterinary Specialists of Northern Coloradolocated on the outskirts of Loveland, Coloradois seeking a highly experienced Veterinary professional to join the leadership team at our AAHA-accredited, 24-hour emergency/specialty referral practice as Hospital Administrator.

The role demands a leader with the interpersonal and organizational skills to continue achieving our goals of delivering excellent patient care and customer service to both our clients and referring veterinarians.

The successful candidate will have experience in Human Resource and Personnel Management, Marketing, and Business Development. Your strategic vision and operational acumen will be put to good use!

The Hospital Administratorunder the guidance of the Regional Operations Directorperforms a wide range of administrative activities related to the practice. This includes: mentoring the staff and overseeing the business operations and maintenance of the facility; ensuring the business growth and profitability of the practice; and supporting the hospital's mission of delivering high quality patient care and exceptional client service.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 2 to 3 years of customer service and financial budget management experience.

  • 4-year college degree; MBA or CVPM preferred.

  • 2+ years managing a specialty hospital unit.

  • Knowledge of sales and marketing techniques.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially to a diverse range of audiences and settings.

  • The ability to make decisions, delegate responsibility and achieve results with hospital team members.

  • Professional comportment and appearance, with excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly, positive attitude.

  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks and deal with an environment of changing priorities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Direct and develop the veterinary, technical and administrative staff towards the goal of quality patient care and excellent client service; assist in the formulation of objectives and policies to ensure efficient and profitable hospital operations.

  • Build and maintain relationships with referral hospitals and community partners.

  • Develop, execute and oversee an annual marketing plan for the hospital.

  • Oversee the hiring, reviewing, disciplining and terminating of professional staff, in accordance with and with the approval of the Regional Management team.

  • Review the P&L Report monthly and partner with the Hospital Manager and Medical Director to increase revenue and limit expenses; work with home office to prepare and submit the yearly budget (budget forecast, operating plan, cap-ex expenditures) and participate in the evaluation process with Regional Management team.

  • Model an "owner" mentality in hospital by demonstrating a willingness to assist all employees in making the practice a success; invest the necessary amount of time to accomplish the required responsibilities and ensure the smooth operation of the hospital.

  • Minimizing patient stress and discomfort; recommend referral to another VCA doctor or specialist when this is likely to significantly improve the prognosis.

  • Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and make certain all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols; assist colleagues in follow-up and future management of the patient.

  • Supervise the administration and case review of client medical complaints.

  • Positively represent the hospital and VCA in the professional community and to the general public.

Reporting to the HR Shared Service Center Manager the HR Support Services Administrators are the first point of contact for all North America and Canada employees and HR colleagues by telephone or ServiceNow cases in relation to HR inquiries pertaining to HR Policies & Procedures, Pay, Benefits, Leaves and Pension/401k, liaising with Tier 2 subject matter experts (SME's) or other HR Colleagues to help resolve or escalate complex issues. Responsible for the day to day Transactional and Data Entry work within the HR Shared Services Center (HR SSC) by providing accurate and timely support within agreed team SLA's and KPI's. Responsibilities: * Provide exceptional customer service to employees from a diverse organization that are seeking additional information relevant to HR Services, or redirecting as appropriate. * Achieve mastery of HR SSC knowledge by engaging in cross training activities to upskill your ongoing personal knowledge and experience of the Benefits, Leaves and Pension areas within the HRSSC group. * Maintain a broad and up to date knowledge of US & Canadian legislations pertaining to Benefits, Leaves and Pensions to make administrative and procedural decisions and exercise judgment on sensitive issues in alignment with corporate policy/regulations. * Support the ongoing development and continuous improvement initiatives within the HR Shared Service Center by participating in activities such as the review and update of process documentation and team ways of working. * Ensure that your work is managed effectively and efficiently through company systems and that you are adaptable and supportive of any new or changing technologies * Safeguard employee privacy where appropriate, including confidentiality and protection of sensitive information. * To ensure that health, safety, security and risk issues are considered and factored into all areas of activity. Regular reviews are undertaken and actions taken as necessary Key Tasks: * Communicate and resolve escalated issues relating to Health and Welfare, Retirement and Benefit programs including enrollment eligibility, claims resolution, payroll deductions as well as COBRA, HSA and FSA issues. * Administration of leave programs in compliance with US and Canadian regulations and equitable application of policies and laws (i.e. FMAL, USERRA) * Uses regulations, decision matrices, benefit plan descriptions, enrollment, instruction guidelines and vendor information to determine appropriate benefit selection * Administer count order processing and maintenance. * Assist with internal benefit plan communications and forms to ensure necessary and timely distribution occurs. Support the processing, generating, assembling, distributing, scanning and editing of forms and files, as needed. * Act as liaison between life insurance beneficiaries and the Vendor for employees. * Provide ongoing support and guidance to the HR Support Services Team to assist with their upskilling in Benefits and Pensions information to enable them to respond to customer inquiries as the first point of contact. * Ongoing development and review of weekly/monthly audits for Benefits, Leaves and Pensions HR System data input to maintain data integrity by preventing errors in HR information and providing reporting to monitor tasks. * Maintain up-to-date Health and Welfare compliance documents and work with Team Lead on compliance reporting and analysis as needed.
