Responsible to the Volunteer Coordinator to provide unreimbursed services to the agency and/or hospice clients and their families.

Completes the hospice volunteer orientation sessions.

  • Completes assignments which may include activities to meet client and family needs, in client visits, bereavement follow-up, office and clerical duties.

QUALIFICATIONS: - Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Good interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to adapt to changing needs of client care.

  • Available for training, assignment, and continuing education.

  • Bereavement and direct client care volunteer must be 18 years or older.

  • Office clerical volunteer must be 16 years of age or older.

  • Personal qualities of a positive approach to life, flexibility, empathy, maturity, a good sense of humor, willingness to help others and ability to work as a team member. Sound judgment regarding death & dying.

  • Ability to develop & maintain rapport with client & family.

Educational Requirements

High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred.

Position Summary As a Hospice Aide, you will provide personal care, supportive services, education, and light household duties in a plan of care developed by the Registered Nurse Case Manager. Principal Accountabilities * Provide patients the attention needed to create a sanitary and orderly environment * Assist with personal care including bathing, nail and skin care, oral hygiene, and toileting * Communicate identified needs and potential solutions to the interdisciplinary team * Take vital signs * Participate in staff meetings, educational programs and community events Qualifications * Effective communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work a flexible schedule, to include some evenings and weekends as needed * Ability to apply sound or good judgment to carry out instructions * High integrity, including maintenance of confidential information * Valid driver's license and auto liability insurance Education, Experience and Certifications High School Diploma or General Education Degree; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Nursing Assistant Certification required.
