Job Description Summary:
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for coordination, supervision and training of hospice volunteers in order to meet the hospice Medicare Conditions of Participation. These include, but are not limited to; supporting the bereavement team, recruiting, training and utilizing volunteers to support hospice patients, families and staff.
This position also coordinates meetings and in-services for volunteers in addition to continual training of volunteers to maintain compliance. The volunteer coordinator will meet with JCAHO, ODH and other organizations as required. Will be out in the community to speak about hospice, volunteers and assist at events and bereavement workshops.
Will build and maintain relationships with staff in contracted skilled nursing facilities. Will meet weekly and monthly accountabilities as established by manager of program. Responsible for ensuring safety of volunteers on assignments, maintaining all documentation, ensuring proper background checks, TB/flu tests and attend IDT. Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School or GED (Required)
Associate's Degree, or High school Diploma and previous related work. Experience: excellent Customer service skills, friendly, outgoing personality, professional appearance, computer knowledge including Microsoft Word and Excel and knowledge of (or ability to learn) volunteer database, Care Connect EMR, 3 - 5 yrs. customer service experience.
