Overview

This position is responsible for performing massage therapy techniques for relaxation, pain management, or therapeutic purposes as discussed/recommended by the interdisciplinary care team. Creates treatment plans and administers treatment techniques with massage therapy guidelines.

Techniques employed may include: Compassionate Touch, Everflow* and other massage in the context of hospice care, , muscular therapy to promote relaxation, release of muscular tension, and an increase in body awareness, energy work (Reiki, Healing Touch) and movement awareness/education.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient to determine the most effective methodology.• Reviews client's medical history, symptoms, and other relevant information before treatment.• Applies appropriate technique to the patient to maximize impact and avoid injuries.• Consults with other healthcare staff to provide the patients with the best therapy.• Maintains records of treatments.• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Massage Therapy program or equivalent• Meets state licensing laws and regulations• Board Certification in Massage Therapy• Membership in ABMP or AMTA
  • Able to work independently and organize tasks• Exhibit flexibility, self-control and maturity in work and behavior• Ability to effectively communicate through written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above and to coordinate care within interdisciplinary care team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience providing Massage Therapy for frail elders or in the context of hospice• 32-hour live, in person oncology training by S4OM recognized education provider• Alzheimer training
