The Role: Hospice Critical Response Nurse (RN)

The Opportunity:

MaineGeneral Hospice and Home Health is looking for a Critical Response (RN) to cover our entire service area. If you have a passion for service excellence…we want to hear from you!

Position highlights:

  • This position requires you to be on call from 4:30 pm to 8:00 am. One week you will work Monday through Thursday, and the following week you will work Tuesday through Friday. The pay would be your standard hourly pay for 40 hours per week.

  • No weekends

What You'll Do:

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.

  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

  • Evaluates the learning needs of the patient and/or family and provides the patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

  • Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.

  • Operates a motor vehicle to conduct MaineGeneral Health business.

Your Qualifications:

  • Possess a current State of Maine RN or LPN license or the ability to obtain one promptly

  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills are essential for this role.

  • Valid Maine state driver's license with acceptable driving record as defined by MGH policy required.

  • At least one year of hospice experience is preferred.
