What You Will Do:

As a Business Office Specialist for Amedisys, you will help our clinicians focus on patient care while you provide administrative, clerical and customer service support for the operational functions for the care center.

  • Perform data entry and input of medical information and maintains patient medical records and data to support the billing, scheduling, payroll and compliance functions of the care center.

  • File medical records, physicians' orders, lab reports, progress notes, clinical notes, etc. on active and discharged patients and maintains security of all patient records and electronic medical records.

  • Maintain office supplies and medical inventory supplies and distribution.

  • Maintain the ongoing scheduling of patient visits for all assigned field staff, as well as communication updates, changes and new admissions to ensure continuity and coordination of patient care services.

  • Greet visitors and answer the multi-line telephone and gives information to callers or routes calls to appropriate staff.

  • Process, handle and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and all other correspondence (including electronic mail.)

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent. License Practical Nurse.

  • Minimum of two years general office experience, with one (1) of those years having been in data entry or word processing functions.

Preferred:

  • Some medical terminology or health care industry experience. Scheduling experience.

Responsibilities * Maintain accurate records for all Accounts Receivable (including collections), payroll and petty cash; process items for corporate accounting functions under direct supervision of the Executive Director. * Maintain current resident business files and leases. Maintain Community census data. * Maintain confidentiality of information received regarding the Community, employees and residents. * Obtain and maintain all required employee paperwork and manage the employee files. * Coordinate and maintain employee benefits program. Track employee training to ensure that all employees receive orientation and on-going training according to state regulations compliance purposes. * Cover the reception desk when necessary at the community if receptionist is not available. Qualifications Education and/or Experience: * A minimum of 2 years experience in an office management, bookkeeping, or other similar position required. * Prior Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and payroll experience required. * Self-motivated, organized and professional. Have a neat, professional, courteous manner and appearance. Possess good public relations, communication, general office, clerical and telephone skills. * Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities and have excellent time management and organizational skills and be able to meet deadlines. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to work effectively with different levels of personnel. * Ability to relate well to residents and their families.
