Position Summary

As a Hospice Aide, you will provide personal care, supportive services, education, and light household duties in a plan of care developed by the Registered Nurse Case Manager. You will communicate and track changes to reflect assigned duties set by the RN while working with the entire Inter-Disciplinary Team.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Provide patients the attention needed to create a sanitary and orderly environment

  • Assist with personal care including bathing, nail and skin care, oral hygiene, and toileting

  • Communicate identified needs and potential solutions to the interdisciplinary team

  • Take vital signs

  • Participate in staff meetings, educational programs and community events


  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, to include some evenings and weekends as needed

  • Ability to apply sound or good judgment to carry out instructions

  • High integrity, including maintenance of confidential information

  • Valid driver's license and auto liability insurance

Education, Experience and Certifications

High School Diploma or General Education Degree; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Nursing Assistant Certification required.

The Speech#and Audiologu#Aide#assists the Speech Language Pathologist(SLP) and/or Audiologist (AUD) in the delivery of services by performing delegated patient care specific to age and developmental level under direct SLP or AUD supervision as outlined by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and within the scope of practice as outlined in the Speech Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board of California. Performs variety of tasks associated with cleaning and maintenance of physical environment, safety checks, clerical duties, equipment maintenance and patient transport. # # Under the direct supervision of the speech language pathologist and/or audiologist provides age and developmentally appropriate patient care treatment as per licensed professional#s approved treatment plan. Specific responsibilities may include assisting SLP with treatment sessions and evaluations, assisting Audiologist with behavioral hearing testing, and interpreting for Spanish speaking patients and families if applicable. # Carries out department maintenance tasks including preparation of patient treatment areas, ordering and storing linens, ordering and stocking supplies and cleaning assigned work areas (patient care and staff areas) as per hospital and department infection control policies. # Performs a variety of tasks related to equipment maintenance including maintaining equipment and toy inventories, ordering and stocking supplies for equipment, performing routine equipment maintenance and checks, maintaining equipment storage areas, coordinating equipment repairs, performing monthly safety checks for assigned area(s) and cleaning assigned equipment and toys as per hospital and department infection control policies. # Performs multiple clerical tasks. Assists front office: Answers phones, greets and checks-in patients, verifies insurance eligibility, schedules patients, opens new patient accounts and collects co-payments. Assists financial clearance process: referrals and authorizations. Additional clerical tasks include photocopying, collecting and delivering mail, inventorying and stocking of department forms, ordering of office supplies, putting together monthly statistical reports, filing and pulling clinic charts. # Completes patient documentation according to professional regulations and CHLA policies and procedures. Enters appropriate charges for patient services into computer database. Manages resources in a cost-effective manner. # Minimum Experience Required: # Pediatric experience preferred. Familiarity with use of personal computers. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: # Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully, verbally and in writing.
