Job Purpose: Provide specialized landscape and grounds maintenance services insupport of horticulturists to include plantings, chemical applications andequipment maintenance.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Perform horticultural related maintenance of trees, shrubs, groundcovers and flower beds.

  • Transport equipment and personnel via motor vehicle to and from job sites.

  • Provide instructions to landscaping crews as required.

  • Lead in and perform lawn maintenance activities.

  • Keeps landscape and grounds free of debris.

  • Apply appropriate chemicals to lawn, trees, shrubs, groundcover, and flower.

  • Perform routine maintenance of equipment.

  • Complete daily grounds maintenance reports.

  • Train new employees in horticultural related duties; promote safe working practices.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED or Vocational School Diploma

  • Work Experience: Two to three years job related experience.

  • Certifications: Valid Driver's License

  • Skills:
    This job requires working knowledge of horticultural support processes and practices including application of chemicals and operation and maintenance of related equipment, use of radio communications equipment and operation of a motor vehicle. Skills in providing work direction and training are required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred Education: High school diploma or GED or Vocational School Diploma

  • Preferred Work Experience: Minimum two to three years of related work experience; This position supports the Director of Grounds and Turf Maintenance with execution in the areas of athletic grounds and turf maintenance.

  • Preferred Certifications: Current Georgia certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator, or ability to obtain state license within three months of hire. Additionally must have a valid Georgia driver's license, or ability to obtain state license within three months of hire.

  • Preferred Skills:

Additional Duties May Include: SupportDirector of Athletic Grounds with execution of maintenance plan for assignedturf and grounds operations. Assist in preparation and execution for thesuccessful maintenance of assigned athletic fields, grounds and landscape,including but not limited to proper irrigation, fertilization and pesticideapplications. Assist in the development and execution of contingency plans foremergency and severe weather scenarios. Maintain assigned inventory of athleticgrounds, maintenance equipment, and supplies. Monitor quality assurance forassigned athletic fields, and provide a safe and aesthetically pleasing playingsurface that meets all ACC and NCAA regulations. Ensure adherence to allfederal and state regulations related to grounds and turf maintenance. Provideevent support for Athletics and special events as assigned. Support theconversion and protection of athletic fields during special events asassigned. Assist with renovations andrepairs to turf areas. Collaborate with third-party contractors as applicable. Developand maintain positive and productive relationships with key internal andexternal constituents. Cooperate with the Athletics compliance office regardingNCAA rules and policies, including reporting requirements, and make adetermined effort to ensure that staff and teams are in compliance.

Additional Information: Position requires the ability to bend, reach, twist, andlift up to 50 pounds. Additionally, must have the ability to work outsideof typical business hours as needed, potentially including but not limited toevenings, weekends, and holidays.
