Horizons Unlimited is a science center a part of the Rowan-Salisbury School System that provides hands-on science field trips that drive student engagement and professional development to support science instruction from the field to the classroom. Reports to: Horizons Unlimited Director

We are looking for an intern who is passionate about science education, nature, and the community. An ideal candidate is someone who wants to help others get excited about our mission and is eager to learn about the behind-the-scenes of a science center.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Excellent interpersonal, presentation, organizational, communication, and leadership skills required

• Ability to collaborate with a team of passionate individuals working together to provide meaningful hands-on science instruction

• Ability to relate positively with the general public and interact effectively with teachers, students, and Horizons Unlimited staff members required

• Interest in learning about science centers: animal care, planetariums, hands-on learning, etc.

• Ability to assist with social media and other communications priorities

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with programming and summer camp groups and events

• Assist with taking photos during field trips, summer camps, and events

• Assist with social media outreach and email campaigns

• Assist with maintaining inventory, clean, refurbish and store materials related to STEM and outdoor learning experiences

• Assist with animal care and teach animal programs as needed

• Potentially coordinate with Planetarium Director to assist with planetarium shows and events some evenings and weekends

• Help with some of our public openings and events on nights and weekends

• Other duties as needed
