Homeless Student Liaison
Job Description:
Coordinates services, informs and educates school-based personnel, community agencies and homeless students / families to ensure delivery of educational services in accordance with McKinney-Vento Act. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.
Spanish speaking preferred.
Position Specific Information (if Applicable):
Responsibilities:
Supervise interns as necessary.
Participate as a team member of Health, Wellness, and Prevention Team
Coordinate with Grant & Federal Programs Manager in budget creation and implementation with Title I (ESSA) Homeless Set-Aside funds.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Ensure DCSD compliance and execution of the McKinney-Vento Act.
Write, implement, monitor and report on grants.
Coordinate and collaborate with DCSD school teams and departments to identify and support students experiencing homeless.
Recommend revisions to Board policy related to homeless students, as appropriate
Coordinate services between students, families, schools, and community resources
Serve as liaison to community services, shelters, schools, transportation, families, school registrars, and administration.
Create and deliver staff development regarding the McKinney-Vento Act.
Seek community information and stay current on services and resources available.
Participate as a team member of Health, Wellness, and Prevention Team
Provide support to students: including equal opportunity to succeed in school, access to school medical records, informing of their rights, handling disputes, and collaborating with State Coordinator
Engage with state and district partners to keep up to date with current laws, policies and practices
