The HPS Project Coordinator is an integral part of the affiliate's success and is essential to further the mission of Habitat for Humanity Kansas City. The position requires frequent homeowner engagement. The Project Coordinator is accountable for scheduling and conducting home assessments for approved applicants. The Project Coordinator is also accountable for preparing a scope of work, soliciting bids from contractors, preparing budgets, tracking projects to completion, and managing all other HPS initiatives (e.g., Rock the Block, Women Build, Veteran's Build, etc.).
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, possesses good verbal and written communication skills, exceptional multitasking abilities, and a commitment to accountability. The candidate should have a good working knowledge of residential construction, remodeling, and home repairs. The candidate should have skills in building and maintaining relationships with other affordable housing providers, ancillary agencies, and contractors providing home repair services or like type experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Home Preservation Services (HPS) Oversight
Schedule and conduct home assessments.
Collaborate with homeowners to develop the repair scope that is most beneficial for the homeowner's health and safety.
Explain homeowner obligations and obtain all required agreement documents.
Work with contractors to acquire repair estimates, overall project budget, and timeline.
Schedule and manage contractors/site leaders to complete the projects.
Schedule and manage work order assignment and completion with Home Preservation Services Repair Specialist.
Finalize project status and completion reporting.
Home Preservation Initiative Support
Work with Development staff and neighborhood associations to select locations with volunteer friendly projects.
Develop scope of work for each house including project budget and timeline.
Coordinate contractor or work order assignments for site prep before the event.
Support coordination and operations on the day of the event.
Finalize project status and completion reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School or Technical School Diploma required.
At least 6 years of experience in private sector, residential construction, preferably in the Kansas City area.
Experience with mixed income neighborhoods and urban residential communities is beneficial.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE JOB:
Capable of lifting 50 - 80 pounds.
Requires minimal manual labor, construction duties, and use of tools.
Able to carry, set, and negotiate commercial grade extension and step ladders as dictated by the building site.
Able to set and negotiate scaffolding.
Must be able to stand for prolonged duration, walk, climb, bend and squat.
