Responsibilities

  • Assist the Home Mortgage Operations Site Manager in day-to-day operations of the underwriting team to ensure consistency, efficiency, quality, salability, insurability and data integrity for all loans underwritten

  • Lead a team of 10-15 Underwriters to deliver outstanding loan quality, customer service and production

  • Train and coach colleagues on new guidelines and procedures

  • Interact with Sales and Brokers to resolve escalated issues or disputes and manager approval reviews and overrides

  • Ensure compliance with corporate policy and procedures

  • Manage underwriting capacity and daily production.

  • Assist National Underwriting Manager with research, review and data compilation and analysis as needed

  • Direct monthly underwriting staff meetings

  • Manage monthly Quality Assurance reporting responses; use external tools to investigate red flags

  • Prepare, retrieve, review, distribute and discuss monitoring, exception and deficiency reports

  • Ensure consistency in the underwriting process by reviewing random loan samples from staff each month

  • Identify internal opportunities for colleague growth and development

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years underwriting or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years management or equivalent experience

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent customer service and problem solving skills

  • Ability to supervise the work of others and provide training, direction, and corrective feedback

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment, with low tolerance for error

  • History of working independently and in a team environment.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience

Certification

  • DE and SAR certification preferred

An extensive understanding of Agency and FAMC guidelines is required. The ability to manage work flow and provide exemplary customer service is essential. * Complete thorough analysis of loan files to determine compliance with Company, investor and agency guidelines. Maintain a minimum Productivity level of 4 new loans per day. * Review conditions within posted turn times. * Communicate loan decisions to appropriate parties both orally and/or in Writing. * Respond to post closing, insuring and audit reviews. Qualifications * Minimum of 4+ years Conventional Underwriting or equivalent experience. * Knowledge of Agency Guidelines, documents and terminology, including Automated systems. TRID experience preferred. * Exemplary customer service skills. * Excellent organizational skills. * Effective communication skills. * Work effectively in a team environment. * Work effectively in a fast pace environment with low tolerance for error. * Work outside of the standard business day may be required. * Professional dress and demeanor. * Must demonstrate commitment, dependability and respect for other employees With regular attendance, punctuality and adherence to agreed upon schedule. * Must be able to adapt to shifting priorities and tasks requiring average mental Dexterity. * Able to problem solve by assessing and identifying causes, gathering relevant Information and generate possible solutions. * Ability to cope with stress of a high production position and meet stringent Deadlines for completing tasks.
