JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Appliance Repair Technician Department:

Classification: Non-Exempt Reports to: Manager

Summary of Appliance Repair Technician:

Responsibility for Full-Scope mechanical/electrical repair and maintenance of appliances to be sold as quality retail product, as well as serving as Outside Service Technician as scheduled.

Essential Functions of Appliance Repair Technician

Follow all safety rules policies and procedures. Continuously maintains a clear and safe work area, reporting any unsafe conditions immediately

Maintains at all times the proper uniform appearance and identification requirements as prescribed by company policy and procedure.

Evaluates and diagnoses needed repairs for all appliances to include entire product line.

Selects from inventory appropriate parts necessary for repair of appliance.

Performs any and all service/repairs necessary per prescribed quality standards to bring used appliance to full operating order.

Work as a dedicated team member to ensure fast, flexible and expert service to every customer.

Demonstrate a sense of urgency to meet customer time commitments.

Provide knowledgeable and courteous repair service

Protect the company's assets from internal/external theft

Maintains full records for accurate tracking of units, repairs, and/or parts, etc. for efficient and thorough completion of internal reporting requirements.

Maintains all tools, equipment, etc. in proper working condition, reports any damages or defects to Manager, and assures proper care and secure storage of all tools and equipment.

Consistently participate in concentrated on-the-job training opportunities to upgrade skills and knowledge base to expand scope of appliance repair capabilities to entire product line.

Mentor other technicians, as applicable

Maintain truck stock inventory within the prescribed company guidelines and standards

Follow the truck maintenance schedule and keep a clean, organized truck

Flooring: Warehouse flooring cement/tile. Floor may be slippery.

Noise level: Machines, forklift and truck noise.

Temperature: Seasonal temperature exposure.

Chemical/Environmental Exposures: chemicals, solvents, dust, and fumes.

Exposure to residential, industrial and commercial waste

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position of 30+ hours per week.

Travel

Travel required as needed to repair appliances in customer homes.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma/GED or equivalent
2 years professional work experience as an appliance repair technician

Valid drivers license, insuarable MVR (motor vehicle report)

Must have Universal CFC Certificate preferred

Basic Computer knowledge and skills.

Preferred Education and Experience

Previous in-home appliance diagnosis and repair experience.

Have the ability to read and interpret documents such as schematics, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manual

Have the ability to read and understand, MSDS's and acquire the information necessary to safely perform the job duties.

Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus

PURPOSE STATEMENT The QA Technician's purpose is to assure food safety through HACCP compliance monitoring, implementing corrective actions and reporting of deviations to the QA Manager. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES Document test results, communicate deviations with management and co-associates. Utilize PLM, QDMS, SAP and Minitab in support of business processes. Submit written reports on overall compliance, deviations and corrective actions implemented. Understanding of Acidified Foods and compliance to all federal guidelines. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, chemistry or biology related field required. Related work experience preferred but not required. Chemistry work related: Water activity., Free fatty acid testing; Viscosity, ; PH effect on Food; Brix, Concentration; Moisture analyses; allergen tests, Flour testing attributes, Microbiology work related: Knowledge of pathogens and its growth characteristics as it relates to food manufacturing and the facility. Bacterial growth requirement; Bacterial identification; Growth morphology; Temperature growth requirement; Bacterial food source. One year experience in commercial food processing preferred. PC skills to include strong knowledge of Windows operating system, and applications to include Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of statistics and use of software packages. Knowledge of Database systems preferred. Ability to constructively deal with change and pressure. Willing to continue training/ education as necessary. Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
