COMPENSATION:
The salary for this position is determined by the HOLLA School salary schedule. This is a full time, exempt position which includes summer program staffing. Salary is in addition to medical/dental insurance and PERS retirement benefits (eligible immediately for current PERS participants, eligible 6 months after employment begins for new PERS participants). All HOLLA School mentors receive professional development, supervision, mentor training, and support with reporting.
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
The goal of the HOLLA School Lead Mentor is to coach and support Classroom Mentors to relationally connect with students, staff and families, and to provide focused, increased support to students. The Lead Mentor embodies the HOLLA School values and supports in changing the academic narrative for Black, Brown and Indigenous youth. This role will approach student and staff interactions with a restorative justice-centered approach.

A typical day for the Lead Mentor includes proactively supporting students in 1:1 or small group settings, pushing in to classrooms to provide coaching for mentors and additional supports for students, being present during lunch and recess times to organically connect with students, and creatively finding ways to engage students to promote belonging. The Lead Mentor is also a resource for HOLLA School Classroom Mentors; coaching and mentoring of Classroom Mentors, covering for Classroom Mentors who are absent, and assisting in appropriate documentation and family communication are all integral parts of this role. The Lead Mentor will also work with the HOLLA School Counselor in identifying students who may need further or deeper types of support.

This role provides coaching and professional development to Classroom Mentors and mentor-specific training to Classroom Teachers. The Lead Mentor coaches Classroom Mentors in HOLLA School's mentorship philosophy and bringing those tenets to the day to day work with students. The Lead Mentor also acts as a liaison and helps build meaningful relationships with the families of the students, as well as empowering Classroom Mentors to develop relationships with HOLLA School families.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent or higher; or combined relevant experience

Experience:

Experience coaching and training staff
Experience working in diverse settings with diverse people
Experience mentoring youth in a strengths focused, mutually beneficial, relational framework
Understanding of and experience using restorative justice to address conflict
Experience speaking, reading and/or writing in languages other than English

Other:

Adaptable and flexible
Ability to receive direction and feedback with an open mindset
Comfortable providing redirection to youth that centers on their assets and inherent value
Comfortable providing coaching and teaching to HOLLA School Staff, specifically in the area of culturally honoring mentorship
Physical requirement of ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, and lift up to 50 lbs
Proof of COVD vaccination
All HOLLA School Staff are required to submit to a background check as part of the pre-employment process as well as on an ongoing basis
