The incumbent of this position ensures the quality of patient care and referral relations in the hospital(s). The HME Coordinator is responsible for servicing referrals in assigned Sutter Hospital(s), answering incoming calls, and directing referrals to Timberlake & other outside agencies. Maintaining and counting inventory in assigned Sutter Hospital(s) consignment closets.

Dispensing DME, oxygen portables, and fitting equipment in the rooms for patient discharges. The HME Coordinator is also responsible for assisting clients, hospital staff, and accurately processing orders, and all other paperwork assigned, within established time frames.

Education

High school diploma. Knowledge of DME is highly desired.

Experience

Prior Customer service or retail experience preferred. Prior experience with Durable Medical Equipment Company highly required.

Knowledge

Background in the medical field highly desired. Knowledge of durable medical equipment and insurance guidelines, including Medicare, MediCal and HMO's highly desired.

Skills

Able to work general office equipment, to include FAX machine, copy machine. Prior experience with computers and data entry also preferred. Incumbent must be patient, experienced in working with elderly and terminally ill as well as have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Maintaining stock levels in all consignment closets. Inventory and tracking of equipment in assigned closets. Collecting and obtaining documentation necessary for tracking equipment given by hospital and/or physicians staff to clients. Obtaining necessary paperwork needed for reimbursement by Timberlake A/R department. Delivering equipment to hospitals and individual clients to help expedite discharge. Dispensing DME, oxygen portables, and fitting equipment in the rooms for patient discharges. Filling in as an HME Coordinator when short-staffed and end of month inventory of consignment closets. All other duties as assigned, within established time frames. Education High school diploma. Knowledge of DME is highly desired. Experience Prior Customer service and/or retail or driving experience preferred. Prior experience with Durable Medical Equipment Company desired but not required. Knowledge Background in the medical field preferred but not required. Knowledge of durable medical equipment and insurance guidelines, including Medicare, Medi-Cal and HMO's preferred but not required.
