Public Health Educator, Level 1, 2, or 3

Paygrade/ Salary: H-$39,124, I-$42,536, J-$46,290

General Nature of Work

  • Provides leadership, technical assistance & training for the Adolescent Health & Youth Development program

  • Develops strategies to achieve policy and systems change related to teenage pregnancy prevention

  • Provides presentations to schools, churches, organizations, etc. as indicated by programmatic needs

  • Provides training, teaching and evaluation at pre-selected community-based environments

  • Requires travel to the other counties in our district

  • Physical Requirements include occasional lifting of up to 45 lbs.

  • Responds to Public Health Emergencies

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in public health education from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor's degree in education, social, behavioral or biological sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college or university. (Please mail or bring a copy of College Transcript or Diploma to Interview-must have official transcript prior to start date)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a master's degree in a related field such as MPH, , etc.

  • Previous employment with any state's Department of Public Health or a County Board of Health

  • Skilled communicator and expertise in community engagement (i.e., stakeholders, parents, and youth)

  • Computer skills (Office suite)

  • Experience developing and working with budgets

  • Analytical skills (experience understanding and presenting data)

  • Experience working with youth while implementing evidence-based programs and services

Highlight any experience related to the Preferred Qualifications. This position may require driving company vehicles (Valid driver's license required) and working some evenings and weekends during special events such as health fairs and responding to disasters. Selected applicant must consent to a motor vehicle record assessment. Points should be less than 10 and/or not negatively impact insurance rates for the agency. Drug screen, criminal background check and immunization records may be required. If selected, male applicants between 18 and 26 years of age must present proof of Selective Service Registration.
