Providence is calling a Histotechnologist (Lab Histopatholgy, Variable Shift, 0.0 FTE) to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
This is a supplemental variable shift role and will fill in for sick and vacation days.
In this position you will:
Prepare histological slides for processing, embedding, cutting and staining sections of paraffin and frozen blocks.
Maintain computer competency for billing tests, labeling slides, and patient and report inquiry.
Perform special stains and histochemical stains for the identification of tissue component to aid in the pathological diagnosis of diseases.
Prepare special stain, immunohistochemical and fixative reagents.
Evaluate the quality of fixation, processing, embedding, cutting and staining of histological slides.
Assist with the stocking of supplies and reagents, as well as distribution of supplies to clients.

AA degree is preferred if registry taken prior to January 2005
Graduate of NAACLS accredited Histotechnician School
HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) registration preferred. If registry eligible, certification required within 2 years
1 year histology experience
