Position Summary
Old World Wisconsin is a 600-acre outdoor living history museum located in Eagle, Wisconsin. Guests explore homes, farms, and businesses that come from across Wisconsin, exploring stories of place and perseverance from the 1840s to the 1930s. With a focus on hands exploration and immersive spaces, OWW is a celebrated destination for families and friends making new memories, sharing stories, and connecting to Wisconsin's past as they get inspired for their own futures. Staff work in historic indoor and outdoor spaces in the beauty of the Kettle Moraine State Forest to bring history to life for tens of thousands of guests each summer.
The individual in this position is responsible for welcoming guests to the Tavern, enriching the
Tavern experience through the interpretation of displays, bar service, and assisting in Tavern
daily operations, special events, and private events as needed. This individual would also be
trained to facilitate food and beverage sales while following all State of Wisconsin financial and
safety protocols.
This position provides welcoming, high-quality customer service in alignment with the Mission of
WHS and the Vision of Old World Wisconsin. This employee must work well in a fast-paced
environment and have a passion for creative and guest-focused service.
Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Beverage Service and Point of Sale:
Understand and perform all Tier 1 point of sale responsibilities; Tier 1 duties include:
Opening money count and drawer opening activities
Perform basic sales functions (sales, non-validated returns, current ticket voids, holds of admission and retail items)
May assist in performing some advanced sales functions (releasing orders)
Print item labels
Closing money count (includes counting and reconciling)
Prepare and serve approved food, beverage, and retail products
Understand the operation and maintenance of the draft beer system to ensure proper functionality
Assist Brewing Coordinator in keg maintenance
Clean and maintain all tavern surfaces, tools, and equipment, including bar tops, glasses, and mixers
Restock bar supplies
Conduct end-of-day cleaning and organizing tasks to ensure the bar is ready for the next shift
Adhere to all local and state laws regarding alcohol service, ensuring guests are of legal drinking age.
Guest Services and Facilitating Old World Experience
Schedule:
Two to five days per week; between the hours of 9:15 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. All staff are required to work Saturdays and/or Sundays. This is a seasonal position.
Salary Information
Pay is $15.00 per hour with a weekend differential of 80 cents per hour. This classification is in schedule and class 03-09.
Please note this is a Limited Term Employment position so it does not include paid time off or benefits upon hire.
Old World Wisconsin enforces a "no tipping" policy during general admission and special ticketed events.
Job Details
A criminal background check will be conducted by WHS prior to an offer of employment to determine if the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job.
This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and limited to 1,039 hours. This position will be part time and average 20 hours per week.
Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions.
Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status.
WHS does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.
