Responsibilities Prepare microscopic slides on tissue for diagnostic purposes; includes fixation, dehydration, infiltration, embedding, microtomy, and mounting to include both paraffin processed tissue and frozen sectioning Perform histochemical and immunohistochemical stains on a variety of tissues to assist in diagnosis Process specimen accessioning to include all manual and computerized data entry Prepare and maintains all necessary reagents, including stains, alcohols, and paraffins according to proper specifications Maintain laboratory, equipment, and accurate records of quality assurance control; assists with teaching and implementation of new procedures Perform disposal of hazardous substances (i.e. formalin and tissue) Monitor Morgue Refrigeration alarm Perform any and all other duties as assigned Qualifications Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in applied science. In lieu of a degree, 4 or more years of relevant Histology experience may suffice. At least 1-2 years’ experience as a Histotechnologist if degree requirements met.

Preferred Job Requirements: Current and active American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification HT (Histotechnologist) certification/ HTL (Histotechnologist) certification
