Job Description
Prepares tissue specimens for routine and special procedures to confirm a patient diagnosis. Performs complex histological procedures, records and analyzes data, and maintains and repairs instruments. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
Meets CLIA requirements for position
High school graduate required
Bachelor or Associate Degree from an accredited college or university preferred
Histology training through an accredited histology school preferred
Previous experience in histology is preferred
Certified as a Histology Technician or Technologist, (ASCP) or (AMT) preferred
