Histology Lab Assistant

The Lab Assistant functions as a part of the pathology team. The individual understands and follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and provides clerical support to the lab including data entry, record keeping, logging and labeling specimens, regular equipment maintenance and organizing specimens. The Lab Assistant solves basic technical problems with equipment maintenance.

Duties:

• Provide patient-centered service

• Accession gross specimens

• Using high attention to detail unpack, inspect, log and label all incoming specimens

• Assist in the specimen grossing process

• Provide clerical support

• Perform data entry into AP Easy system

• Answer telephones, process specimen send outs

• Follow standard policies and procedures

• Understand and follow safety and hazardous waste guidelines

• Maintain quality control

• Protect patient confidentiality

• Work effectively with team

Minimum Requirements:

• HS Diploma or equivalent

• Excellent keyboarding and data entry skills

• Strong attention to detail

• Ability to communicate effectively

• Ability to use laboratory database systems (AP Easy)

• Experience in Histology and/or Clinical Laboratory a plus

Schedule: 40 hours/week, Monday

• Friday, 8 am

• 4:30 pm
