General Description and Essential Functions
Trimming and cutting of tissue blocks
Doing manual or automatic cover slipping of slides
Labeling slides with paper label in number sequence and distributing slides to correct courier pick-up stations
Preparing and loading reagents on the recycler; daily testing of alcohol/xylene percentage and purity of reagents
Routine maintenance of tissue processors and automated strainers, H&E staining station and automated coverslipper
Maintaining routine records and files in appropriate order
Filing tissue blocks in correct hospital and dermatology office boxes
Answering the phone in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner within established guidelines
Doing daily routing cleanup of staining dishes, counters and floors
Modifying (add, delete, or change) orders one existing cases in the power path system
Adhere to all protocols as described in WPL's Policy and Procedure manual as related to job duties
Light physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.)
Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
Frequent, prolonged standing/sitting/walking
Must be able to see, hear, and respond adequately
Frequent use of telephone and fax
Occasional travel required to interact with Division personnel and/or attend meetings, educational training
