The Press Assistant is responsible for assisting the Press Operators as directed to perform press setup, make-ready, and clean-up activities within a defined time frame. A person in this role with exceptional performance will have the opportunity over time, to learn press operating duties as well.

  • Hiring for Weekend Day Shift

Job Duties:

  • Comply with all company and safety policies and procedures

  • Attains and maintains all defined job objectives related to the planning and execution of all jobs and quick changes

  • Assists in the performance of all external make-ready operations in preparation for changeover activities (changing from one label job to another)

  • Assists in the performance of all external clean-up activities following changeover

  • Cleans ink pans and ancillary equipment

  • Strips plates from cylinders

  • Locates dies to and from press

  • May be required to work with press operator to view labels with assistance of strobe light (Warning: Strobe lights may trigger epileptic seizures in persons with photosensitive epilepsy)

  • Comply with quality assurance specifications of the customer and MCC

  • May be required to complete quality assurance sheet and associated documentation

  • Responsible for following processes and procedures

  • Responsible for cleanliness of machinery and organization of the workspace

  • Participation in department meetings, process improvement events, training, and safety program as scheduled

  • Responsible for working overtime when needed and as assigned - Related duties as assigned

Experience/Skills Required:

  • High school education or equivalent

  • Print shop experience helpful, but not required

  • Ability to assist with press set-up, run, and clean-up

  • Detail oriented

  • Ability to communicate and interact well with others (verbally and written form); seen as a team player

  • Ability to read and understand a job ticket

  • Ability to read a ruler and understand measurements (able to pass a ruler test)

  • Ability correctable to 20/20 (able to pass an eye test)

  • Ability to differentiate colors (able to pass a color test)

  • Ability to input data in the computer

  • Ability to work in a team environment with a high sense of urgency for on-time completion of assigned activities

  • Self-motivated with the ability to stay focused and follow instructions

  • Ability to stand and move around press area for long periods of time

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, 10-20 feet in distance

VIEW JOBS 11/15/2021 12:00:00 AM 2022-02-13T00:00 The Press Operator is responsible for supporting goals of the plant in efficient operation of a flexographic press, printing labels to specification ensuring consistent quality. This is a technical and skilled position requiring strong mechanical aptitude and previous flexographic press experience. Candidates should have solid print environment experience, strong math skills, good attendance, and a desire to grow and learn with print career focus. Job Duties: * Review job ticket for required processes and customer expectations. * Enter job order information, (i.e. roll track numbers, job specification, etc.). Set specifications on press. (Measurement accuracy and attention to detail required). We utilize Radius Shop Floor Data Collection (SFDC). * Exhibit safety-first attitude from proper PPE compliance to maintaining an environmentally safe and hazard-free work environment. Active participation on the Safety Team. Compliance with all workplace and product safety standards required. * Inspect jobs; flag/remove defects using strobe light detection. * Continuously check job for quality. * Perform and support preventative press maintenance. * Comply with customer and MCC QA specifications, including but not limited to handling procedures, paperwork requirements, etc. Compliance with all data integrity, product safety, and GMP standards required. * Complete QA sheet and associated documentation and verify prior to supervisory approval for job. * Complete roll-end section of Quality Control checklist and verify as each master roll is run on press. * Responsible for following established processes and procedures related to safety, quality and equipment. * Responsible for cleanliness of machinery, work space organization, light equipment maintenance and troubleshooting issues as applicable and safe to do so. * Perform required test runs. * Assist in the performance of external make-ready operations in preparation for changeover activities as needed. * Assist with clean-up activities following changeover; clean ink pans and ancillary equipment, strip plates from cylinders, conduct wash-up, etc. * Cross train Press Assistant to run press through breaks/lunches as time allows. Mentor employees to support growth within plant. * Compliance and follow-through with Lean initiatives. * Participation in department meetings, process improvement events, training, and safety program as scheduled. * Responsible for working required overtime. May be expected to use other additional quality inspection tools such as AVT.
