Union Hospital is seeking a detail oriented HIM Tech I who will be responsible for multidisciplinary functions within HIM.
Retrieves all previous day records for all patient status areas assuring verification against discharge list.
Reviews all incoming records, organizes, preps and scans records into Meditech 6.1 scanning software.
Reviews all scanned documents to assure accuracy and quality of scanning and authenticates the record to its proper location within the electronic record.
Responsible for reviewing and scanning all loose mail into Meditech 6.1 cross-reference to the appropriate account.
Alerts all HIM staff via e-mail on a daily basis regarding current work status as well as any outstanding issues related to record retrieval.
Responsible for the shred of all paper records according to the HIM shred protocol.
Filing of existing paper records.
Utilizing Meditech 6.1 - Analyzes all electronic medical records to identify any and all provider documentation deficiencies in accordance with Joint Commission Record of Care requirements.
Reviews point of contact scanning to assure accuracy of the data.
Reports all discrepancies by related to missing records, incomplete documentation and scanning to managerial staff in a timely fashion to assure data integrity.
Re-analyses all medical record deficiencies on the review work list prior attesting to the total completion of the record.
Maintains confidentiality of all information exposed to in the course of business.
Provides back up assistance in other areas of the department when needed.
Identifies process problems in daily workflow and takes the initiative to solve them.
Establishes and maintains open communication with departmental employees and all hospital staff.
Answers phone calls and complies with all policies related to Confidentiality, Privacy & Security and Release of Information

Performs other duties as assigned by the Health Information Management
Education: High school diploma or equivalency
Licenses / Certifications: None
Experience: Minimum one-year clerical experience, preferably in a health care setting. Experience in computer data entry.
