Highway Equipment Mechanic 2

The Position

Highway Equipment Mechanics maintain, repair, and modify medium (GVWR 10,500-26,000 lbs.) and heavy (GVWR greater than 26,000 lbs.) highway maintenance and construction equipment.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

The Nevada Department of Transportation is recruiting to fill the Highway Equipment Mechanic II position in Carson City, Nevada. The Highway Equipment Mechanic II position is responsible for diagnosing and repairing light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty equipment.

This position is responsible for responding to field service calls and improvising as necessary to perform field repairs. Provide training and work direction to Highway Equipment Mechanic 1's and Fleet Service Worker 3's. Create, track and maintain units using M5.

Perform Advance level diagnostics and repairs to light, medium and heavy duty trucks and equipment.
