THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation in Northampton County is currently looking to hire a Highway Equipment Manager 1. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As part of this role, you will be tasked with overseeing a range of duties such as maintaining, repairing, and coordinating the dispatch of a fleet consisting of heavy construction and automotive equipment. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing equipment repair facilities and the staff associated with them, as well as ensuring the maintenance of the building, grounds, stockpiles, and facilities utilized for equipment storage and upkeep. You will also be directly supervising the mechanic supervisor, as well as office, shop, and storeroom personnel.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.

  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday

  • Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime shift-work and travel may be required for emergencies and training. Dual shifts will be required during Winter season.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel engines and other components of heavy highway maintenance and construction vehicles and equipment including one year of such experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Class A or Class B Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or equivalent with the Tank (N), Hazmat (H), or Tank/Hazmat (X) endorsements.

  • This position requires possession of a valid PA Class 4 or Class 7 State Inspection Mechanic Certification.

  • This position requires one year of experience or training in the repair or maintenance of diesel engines.
